The Trustees of the Boston Public Library overwhelmingly approved the name change last week to honor Sarah-Ann Shaw, a lifelong Roxbury resident who worked at WBZ-TV from 1969 to 2000. She died last year at age 90.
Reception guests excitedly applauded the arrival of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who began her speech by honoring the late Sarah-Ann Shaw. Shaw, the citys first Black woman TV news reporter passed away Thursday at 90 years old. Wu reflected on her personal experience with Shaw.
