Abstract:

Embodiments of the disclosure include an orb or lamp communicating with a noninvasive monitor to provide a readily identifiable point indication of a wellness of a monitored patient. In an embodiment the orb emits a color gradient from a first color through at least two other colors responsive to values of a wellness measurement. Abstract:

Embodiments of the present invention provide approaches (e.g., online methods) to analyze end-to-end performance issues in a multi-tier enterprise storage system (ESS), such as a storage cloud, where data may be distributed across multiple storage components. Specifically, performance and configuration data from different storage components (e.g., nodes) is collected and analyzed to identify nodes that are becoming (or may become) performance bottlenecks. In a typical embodiment, a set of components distributed among a set of tiers of an ESS is identified. For each component, a total capacity and a current load are determined. Based on these values, a utilization of each component is determined. Comparison of the utilization with a predetermined threshold and/or analysis of historical data allows one or more components causing a bottleneck to be identified.

Abstract:

An apparatus for use in measuring fetal blood flow characteristics. The apparatus includes a non-invasive pulse oximetry probe that is inserted into the uterus between the fetus and the uterine wall. The probe is deformable and is positively attached to the fetal tissue surface using a vacuum pump which causes the probe to deform from a pre-set curvature to the curvature of the fetal tissue surface and to form a gasket-type seal with the fetal tissue surface. The probe is manually inserted into the uterus using a curved insertion tool, and is shaped to fit through a slightly dilated cervix. In a preferred embodiment, the probe includes fetal and maternal ECG sensors and additional sensing devices, and is provided with apparatus for improving the efficiency of the pulse oximetry optics.

A method and system for a health network comprising a facility, operated by a party other than the patient or health care provider, for collecting and routing information pertaining to the health care of a patient to the patient and the health care provider. The health network utilizes two-way communication between the patient and the facility, and the health care provider and the facility. In one embodiment, the facility receives treatment instructions from the health care provider that are specifically developed for each patient. Algorithms are developed based on such instructions. The algorithms are then programmed into an appropriately configured message device in the possession of the patient. A connector is described which has contacts with wire termination ends (24) for connecting to two ribbon-like wire groups (16, 18) wherein the wires in each group alternate between grounded wires (26c) and signal-carrying wires (26a), and wherein the contacts have connector mating ends (22) arranged in two rows including one row (1) of signal contacts and another (2) of grounded contacts. A method and apparatus for improving the calculation of oxygen saturation and other blood constituents by non-invasive pulse oximeters. The method and apparatus permit more accurate determination of blood flow by collecting time-measures of the absorption signal at two or more wavelengths and processing the collected time-measure to obtain composite pulsatile flow data from which artifacts have been filtered. The processing may occur in the time domain or in the frequency domain. In the preferred time domain embodiment, successive portions of periodic information are weighted and added together in synchrony to obtain the composite pulse information. In the preferred frequency domain embodiment, the time-measure is Fourier transformed into its spectral components to form the composite information. A new method and apparatus for correlating the heartbeat and optical pulse is provided whereby a product of the ECG R-wave and optical pulse signals corresponding to the same heartbeat is obtained, and one signal is time shifted relative to the other until a maximum waveform product corresponding to the heartbeat is determined.
