Abstract:
A mesoporous aluminophosphate material includes a solid aluminophosphate composition modified with at least one element selected from zirconium, cerium, lanthanum, manganese, cobalt, zinc, and vanadium. This mesoporous aluminophosphate material has a specific surface area of at least 100 m /g, an average pore size less than or equal to 100 , and a pore size distribution such that at least 50% of the pores have a pore diameter less than 100. The material can be used as a support for a catalytic cracking catalyst. Additionally, a method for making such a mesoporous aluminophosphate material is disclosed. The method, which preferably avoids use of organic reagents or solvents, includes providing an aqueous solution containing an inorganic phosphorus component; an inorganic aluminum containing component; and an inorganic modifying component containing at least one element selected from zirconium, cerium, lanthanum, manganese, cobalt, zinc, and vanadium. A solid mesoporous aluminophosphate material is formed in the solution by adjusting the pH of the solution to the range of 7 to 12 and is then recovered.

A process for catalytic cracking of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprises contacting the feedstock with a catalyst composition comprising a primary cracking component, such as zeolite Y, and a mesoporous aluminophosphate material which includes a solid aluminophosphate composition modified with at least one element selected from zirconium, cerium, lanthanum, manganese, cobalt, zinc, and vanadium. The mesoporous aluminophosphate material has a specific surface area of at least 100 m /g, an average pore size less than or equal to 100 , and a pore size distribution such that at least 50% of the pores have a pore diameter less than 100.

Abstract:
A condensation reaction process and reactor for converting a plurality of reactants to at least one reaction product having a vapor pressure less than the vapor pressure of the reactants. The process includes heating a liquid phase of the reactants to at least partial vaporization thus forming a vapor phase of the reactants. The vapor phase reactants are passed in a vapor and or condensed state through at least one catalyst bed spaced from the liquid state to form reaction product(s). The reaction product(s) is returned to the liquid phase without additional contact with catalyst.
