Abstract:It would be beneficial to have a means for securing a door or portal, or for opening a door or portal such that it cannot be opened from the other side, in which the securing means could be operated without the use of the person's hands. Latching system comprises latching device and receiving device Latching device may be movably attached to door preferably at the bottom of door and latching device is used to secure door to door frame member Latching system is located substantially near the bottom of door so that it may be operated by means of a person's foot.
