Abstract:

A sensing device may include a cholesteric crystal device including two optically transparent substrates; a liquid crystal having portions adapted for producing a plurality of optical states, said liquid crystal being arranged between the two optically transparent substrates; an optical sensor for changing optical states of respective portions of said liquid crystal to produce a range of respective optical states including all optical states produced by said liquid crystal ranging from one state to any combination of broadband reflection, tunable narrow band reflection, light scattering, and transparency in accordance with an amount of voltage applied across said cholesteric crystal device for changing optical states.

Abstract:

A novel method and apparatus for an exercise program exchange is disclosed. The disclosed method comprises receiving a fitness exercise program from a first device operated by a first user, upon receipt of a request from a second user for access to the fitness exercise program, determining eligibility of the second user to access the fitness exercise program, and upon determining that the second user is eligible to access the fitness exercise program, enabling the second user using at least one of the first device or a second device to access the fitness exercise program.

According to an embodiment, an electrically switchable mirror includes: a first electrically switchable layer of cholesteric liquid crystal material, the first electrically switchable layer having a first state in which right-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon is reflected and left-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon is transmitted and a second state wherein right-handed and left-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon are transmitted; a second electrically switchable layer of cholesteric liquid crystal material, the second electrically switchable layer having a first state in which left-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon is reflected and right-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon is transmitted and a second state wherein right-handed and left-handed circularly polarized light incident thereon are transmitted; and a first electrically switchable wave plate disposed between the first and second electrically switchable layers.

Abstract:

Method and system for operating a fitness exercise equipment are provided. In a preferred embodiment of the present disclosure, a system for operating a fitness exercise equipment comprises a processor and a memory device electronically coupled to the processor, the memory device storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, direct the processor to acquire an initial exercise parameters entered by a user, determine an initial exercise program based on the initial exercise parameters, and initiate movement of the fitness exercise equipment in correspondence with the initial exercise program, where the instruction to acquire the initial exercise parameters comprises instructions to detect commands entered by the user via built-in touch screen of the fitness exercise equipment, wherein instructions to detect commands entered by the user via built-in touch screen comprises detecting a curve drawn by the user on the built-in touch screen.
