Press Release: Jodi Adams, a business teacher at Eastern High School in Louisville, received the Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher Award. Adams, who has private-sector business ownership experience, began teaching business and information technology at Eastern High School in 2010. Colleagues describe her teaching style as innovative, creative and student centered. She championed a project-based learning business curriculum that incorporates instruction similar to a college MBA program. As business program chairperson, she launched Kentucky’s first High School of Business, a three-year program to guide students into private-sector opportunities. Her business plan was instrumental in the creation of The Eagle’s Nest Cafe at Eastern High School.
