Abstract:

The invention is directed to a wrist fusion plate 10 configured to extend over a carpus area and position at least one metacarpal relative to a radius. The wrist fusion plate includes a saddle portion 36 which is placed over the carpus area. A proximal end 38 extending from the saddle portion and attachable to the radius defines a first longitudinal axis. A distal end 40 extending from the saddle portion and attachable to one of the metacarpals defines a second longitudinal axis. The second longitudinal axis is not axially aligned relative to the first longitudinal axis in a medial-lateral direction.

Abstract:

An item is cleaned in a portable lavage device comprising a moveable tank for holding a cleansing liquid, a pump and flow restricting mechanism coupled to the tank for circulating the cleansing liquid under a pressure which gradually and cyclically varies from a maximum to a minimum pressure greater than zero to reduce noise during operation of the device, and spaced nozzles coupled to the circulating pump and flow restricting mechanism and arranged to spray the cleansing liquid under varying pressure against an item to be cleaned. This is a division of application Ser. No. 248,510, filed Mar. 27, 1981, now U. S. Pat. No. 4,402,331.

Abstract:

The invention is directed to an orthopaedic template system for use with a bone (14) having a shaft and a bearing surface at an end of the shaft. A first template (30) is attachable to the bone end adjacent to the bearing surface, and includes a first saw guide surface or slot (40). A joint locator (10) is used to position the first template (30) relative to the bearing surface. A second template (50) is pivotally attachable to the first template (30), whereby the second template (50) may be selectively positioned at one of a plurality of angular orientations relative to the first template. A third template (70) includes a second saw guide surface or slot (78), and is attachable to the first template (30) at a plurality of locations (72, 74, 76), whereby the second saw guide slot (78) may be selectively positioned relative to the first saw guide slot (40).

Abstract:

A contingent aid device, system, and method are disclosed including a cavity with lid to hold a medicine, a control module, a lid status sensor, a medicine status sensor, a user-activatable tactile input, a status indicator module, a display screen, a communication module, a global positioning system module, an altimeter, a voice-in module, an audio-out module, a digital-in module, and a power source, wherein the device is configured to, without further user-initiated instruction or action, initiate communication with an emergency contact following removal of the medicine from the cavity, following user activation of the user-activatable tactile input, following a first predetermined period of time after opening of the lid without removal of the medicine from the cavity, or following a second predetermined period of time after removal of the medicine from the cavity without user activation of the user-activatable tactile input confirming the medicine has been administered.
