Abstract:

A system and method for null packet replacement having a global scheduler () select data from a plurality of self-managed queues () to insert in to the data stream in place of null packets. The queues () managed by the global scheduler have rules that are private to each queue Q, Q,. . . QN. The global scheduler () has a set of rules () for prioritizing the queues (). The global scheduler () knows the average data rate for each queue () and has a priority assigned to each queue (). Rules for the global scheduler policy () are limited to the order of service for the queues. The present invention is advantageous in that the order of service may be changed at the global scheduler () without affecting the independent queues ().

Abstract:

A method for determining the angle of impact of an object on a thin-walled structure which determines the angle of impact through analysis of the acoustic waves which result when an object impacts a structure. Transducers are placed on and in the surface of the structure which sense the wave caused in the structure by impact. The waves are recorded and saved for analysis. For source motion normal to the surface, the antisymmetric mode has a large amplitude while that of the symmetric mode is very small. As the source angle 22 increases with respect to the surface normal, the symmetric mode amplitude increases while the antisymmetric mode amplitude decreases. Thus, the angle of impact is determined by measuring the relative amplitudes of these two lowest order modes.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for brokering the enablement of the communication of encrypted media programs from a plurality of independent broadcasters to a plurality of receivers is disclosed. The system makes use of a pairing key for each provided service, which is differently encrypted by a pairing server and by the broadcaster providing the service. The encrypted versions of the pairing key are decrypted in a first receiver module using information known to the pairing service but not the broadcaster and in a second receiver module using information known to the broadcaster. The pairing key is used to cryptographically bind the first and second receiver modules.
