Abstract:

A washer system and a method are provided for purging the washer liquids contained within a washer system. A first reservoir containing a freezable washer liquid a second reservoir containing a freeze-resistant washer liquid and an exit circuit are fluidically coupled to a fluid distribution circuit A fluid purge apparatus is also coupled to the fluid distribution circuit An electronic control module (ECM) is electrically coupled to the fluid distribution circuit the fluid purge apparatus and a temperature sensor The ECM controls the fluid purge apparatus upon receiving a temperature signal from the temperature sensor The fluid purging apparatus purges freezable washer liquid from a portion of the fluid distribution circuit during temperatures at or below a predetermined temperature, to prevent the washer liquid from freezing within the fluid distribution circuit.

Abstract:

A washer system and a method are provided for dispensing a freezable washer liquid versus using a freeze-resistant washer liquid depending on temperature. A first reservoir containing a freezable washer liquid is fluidically coupled to a first pump A second reservoir ″ containing a freeze-resistant washer liquid is fluidically coupled to a second pump The first pump is fluidically coupled to a first port The second pump is fluidically coupled to a second port The first pump and the second pump are electrically coupled to an electrical control circuit The electrical control circuit controls the first pump and the second pump upon measuring a temperature. The washer system uses the freezable washer liquid in temperatures above a predetermined temperature and freeze-resistant washer liquid in temperatures at or below a predetermined temperature.
