Abstract:
An electrical submersible well pump assembly has upper and lower motors that are filled with oil. During installation in a well, the upper motor lowers into engagement with the lower motor. The drive shafts of the motors have splined ends that engage each other within a central cavity. A vent port leads from the central cavity to the exterior for venting any trapped air located within the central cavity.
A subsurface well system contains well bore fluid and a pumping system which is lowered into the well bore on a conduit. The pumping system is supplied with electrical power through a conductor. The pumping system has a chamber, a discharge valve, and an intake valve for admitting the well bore fluid into the chamber. The chamber contains a reservoir that is filled with a reactive polymer gel that undergoes a significant change in volume in response to environmental changes. The gel expands when it is electrically stimulated, thereby forcibly expelling the fluid within the chamber. The gel contracts when it is not stimulated, thereby drawing fluid into the chamber. When electrical current is oscillated through the gel, the expansions and contractions repeat so that a pumping action of well bore fluid is achieved. The gel may also be formulated to react to an electromagnetic field. The gel of this embodiment contains metallic particles which increase in temperature when exposed to the magnetic field.

Abstract:
A well pump assembly has a tubular junction having a main tube and a bypass tube. An electric motor and seal section hang below the tubular junction in the main tube. The motor is powered by a power cable that extends alongside the tubing to the surface. The motor has an upper end with a drive shaft coupling. The pump for the motor is lowered through the production tubing on a wireline, wire rope or coiled tubing. The pump has a lower end which has a driven shaft coupling that makes up in stabbing engagement with the drive shaft coupling when the pump reaches the motor. The driven shaft coupling includes a guide that slides into a coupling housing. Orientating keys orient the guide and lock it from rotation. The bypass tube of the tubular junction may receive workover tools that are diverted by a wireline tool.

Abstract:
A submersible well pump assembly includes a pump driven by a motor. The pump has a number of stages, each stage including a diffuser having an annular diffuser inlet with an annular outer wall. Diffuser passages lead downstream and inward from the diffuser inlet. An impeller has a circumferential outer edge adjacent the outer wall of the diffuser inlet. Notches are formed in the circumferential outer edge, defining a serrated configuration.
Seal Assembly For Abrasion Resistant Bearing Of Centrifugal Pump
A submersible well pump assembly has a motor that rotates a drive shaft within the pump. The pump has a number of pump stages, each stage having a diffuser and an impeller. A bushing is fixed for non-rotation within the diffuser. A thrust runner sleeve mounted to the drive shaft has an outer diameter surface in sliding rotating engagement with an inner diameter surface of the bushing. At least one seal ring is mounted to the sleeve in sealing engagement with the drive shaft to block the entry of well fluid particulates between the sleeve and the drive shaft.

Abstract:
A method of managing data obtained in a borehole is provided. The method includes monitoring a characteristic with at least one sensor and obtaining raw data therefrom; indexing the raw data with the at least one sensor; recording the indexed data with the at least one sensor; forming a data packet with the at least one sensor, the data packet including at least a portion of the indexed data and index information; and transmitting the data packet in a predetermined segment of a communication protocol.
