Abstract:
The present invention is an automatic gain control system for use with a multiple wavelength laser LIDAR system that transmits sets of time-separated interrogating signals to generate sets of time-separated return signals. A comparator defines a plurality of unique peak amplitudes and a corresponding plurality of unique binary words associated therewith. The comparator receives each of the laser LIDAR systems return signal from an i-th set thereof and outputs a binary word indicative of a peak amplitude achieved thereby. The binary word is one of the plurality of unique binary words. A memory has each of a plurality of address locations defined by one of the plurality of unique binary words. Each address location stores a unique gain value. An adjustable gain amplifier has a signal input for receiving each return signal and a gain adjustment input coupled to the memory.

Abstract:
The method of operating a two electrode electrochemical detector cell in which the cell is connected to an external current measurement circuit through a cyclically operated switch which alternately opens and closes the connection between the cell and the external circuit. The cell is operated without bias potential. The peak current obtained from the cell after closing the connection to the external circuit may be measured immediately without any delay for transient current to decay. Means are disclosed for automatically compensating for background current error in the cell current measurement.
A digital frequency synthesizer includes an oscillator and a variable frequency digital divider, whose divisor N is switchably selected for dividing the oscillator frequency. A counter accumulates a count related to the number of cycles of the divided oscillator frequency occurring in a unit time, with this number being used to set the divisor of a second digital frequency divider. The oscillator frequency is also divided by the second divider, with the resultant signal having a frequency of N Hz.
A mono-lobe tracker is described for tracking a target emitting radio signals incorporating an antenna, a circuit for sequential lobing, a radio frequency amplifier, a mixer, an intermediate frequency amplifier, an amplitude modulator detector, and integrators for storing the amplitude signals corresponding to predetermined off boresight positions, means for taking the difference of two integrators indicating the boresight error, a motor coupled to the error signal for driving the antenna in response to the error signal and a random number generator for generating at random a plurality of frequencies which are coupled as randomly selected to the sequential lobing circuit. A random number generator is also described incorporating a noise diode, an amplifier, a voltage comparator and a counter.
