An attachment for a conductor wrapping tool for providing a reduced rotation speed for driving a conductor unwrapping bit. The attachment includes a housing having an elongated reduced diameter portion for supporting a drive shaft wherein the housing and drive shaft may be supported by and in driving engagement with a motor driven conductor wrapping tool in place of a conductor wrapping bit and sleeve assembly. The housing supports a two stage planetary gear reduction drive for driving an unwrap bit at a substantially reduced speed with respect to the drive speed of the conductor wrapping tool motor and the attachment drive shaft. The unwrapping bit and drive shaft are coaxial and the attachment is adapted for rapid chucking and removal operations with respect to the conductor wrapping tool.

Abstract:
A support mechanism for a rotatable conductor wrapping bit for quick detachment from a conductor wrapping tool includes a housing for the bit and for a rotatable bit driver member. Radially inwardly projecting pins are disposed on the housng and project into a bore which receives a sleeve on the motor housing having opposed "j" slots. One of the pins is radially inwardly movable into locking engagement with the bit driver member whereby, upon detachment of the support mechanism from the motor casing, the bit driver member and the bit are locked in a predetermined indexed or rotationally oriented position relative to the housing. The bit driver member includes a spring disposed in a bore formed therein and engageable with a coupling part for permitting axial excursion of the bit to accommodate the axial space occupied by successive helical convolutions of conductor wire as a coiled connection is formed.

Abstract:
A tool for stripping insulation or cladding from a conductor includes a pair of oppositely opposed notched cutting blades which are mounted in blade holders. The blade holders are guided into contact with the insulation or cladding by slots contained in a housing and stopped before the cutting blades contact the conductor. The movement of the cutting blades into contact with the insulation is caused by the squeezing of a pair of handles which are resiliently mounted within a housing. The central portion of the housing includes a slot for measuring the length of insulation or cladding to be stripped from the conductor.
Cutting And Insulation Stripping Apparatus For Electrical Conductor
A manually actuated electrical conductor wire insulation cutting and stripping apparatus has an elongated housing adapted to be mounted on a conductor wrapping tool or connected to a pistol grip type handle. The housing supports a wire cut off blade assembly and an insulation cutting and stripping blade assembly which are actuated simultaneously by an elongated shaft extending in and supported by the housing and connected to a manual actuating lever. The insulation cutting and stripping blades are retained on the housing at one end thereof by a removable cover member which permits interchanging insulation cutting and stripping blades without major disassembly of the apparatus. The wire cut off blades are mounted on a movable support member and one of the wire cut off blades retains the other blade in a recess formed in the support member and connected to the shaft for rotation therewith.
