Aqueous compositions formed from combining water, and at least one solute such as sodium bicarbonate, acetylsalicylic acid or mixtures thereof, are used to introduce and maintain relatively high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of selected environments. The aqueous compositions benefit live plants and prolong the shelf life of various perishable foods and products, including vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, seafood, dairy products, and dry goods and ingredients. The aqueous compositions are applied directly by bathing or showering a perishable product in the aqueous compositions, or indirectly with absorption devices that carry the aqueous compositions, and which are placed in close proximity to a perishable product. An aqueous composition can be applied to or formed directly on an absorption device. An absorption device can also be recharged by reapplying or reforming the aqueous composition to the absorption device as needed.
Composition And Method For The Treatment Of Skin Irritations
A composition is provided that is suitable for topical administration for the treatment of a skin irritation, the composition comprising acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate. Also provided is a method for treating a skin irritation in an individual comprising topically administering to the affected area a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate. The composition is particularly useful for decreasing the temperature at the surface of a sunburn and for reducing pain and discomfort caused by a sunburn.
Composition And Method For Reducing Harmful Effects Of Ultraviolet Radiation Impinging On The Skin
A composition is provided that is suitable for topical administration for the treatment of skin to reduce the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation impinging on the skin, the composition comprising acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate. Also provided is a method for treating skin to reduce the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation impinging on the skin comprising topically administering to the skin a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate. Also provided is an aqueous composition suitable as an additive to a composition of cosmetics comprising acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate. Also provided is a method of manufacturing a cosmetic composition, comprising obtaining an aqueous composition that includes acetylsalicylic acid and sodium bicarbonate, and combining the aqueous composition with cosmetic ingredients to create the cosmetic composition.

Abstract:
Poorly matched electrical power systems (e.g., those with a poor power factor and crosstalk interference) that create a high transient demand for power result in unnecessarily high power bills. High transient demand for power may be decreased, and power bills thereby reduced, by placing an energy storage element near the entity's power input, thereby reducing crosstalk. The energy storage element may comprise a plurality of de-tuned capacitors. A reactive element may be placed in series with the energy storage element to repress high-frequency harmonics and to reduce electrical noise. The energy storage element and/or the reactive element may be configurable. A control module may reconfigure the system responsive to measurements obtained at the entity and/or user commands received over a network or at the module itself.
Homeopathic Composition And Method For The Treatment Of Skin Irritations And Other Skin Diseases
A homeopathic composition and method for treating a variety of skin irritations, wounds, and diseases is disclosed. The homeopathic composition may contain as active ingredients salicyclic acid, trona or one of its salts, and at least one homeopathic agent.

Abstract:
Evaporation devices and associated methods for introducing humidity into an atmosphere. The evaporation device includes a substantially rigid shell encasing an absorbent material and having a plurality of holes extending therethrough to permit air flow between the exterior and interior of the shell. The absorbent material can be a natural or synthetic sponge capable of absorbing and retaining water. After applying water to the evaporation device, it is placed in an environment to which humidity is to be introduced. Evaporation of water can be enhanced by placing a mixture of aspirin and sodium bicarbonate on the absorbent material. Examples of methods for using the evaporation device include placing the evaporation device in produce bins, produce refrigerators, cheese and meat refrigerators, and containers of dry foods, such as cookies and brown sugar.
