About:
Prior to selling real estate, I worked to help builders develop historic and affordable housing through the use of Historic and Section-42 Housing Tax Credits. I have always had a heart to help people find a place to call "home" and to see them succeed financially. I attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, so after having graduated and worked with developers, real estate sales seemed to be a good fit for me in terms of both being a Mom and needing to support my family. I didn't want to just be a sales person, though. (I tend to dislike sales people who just try to sell me something.) I wanted to help people, counsel people, really find the house they love and can make it a home. Part of my mission statement is "Be an outstanding advocate for my clients" and "have fun", so that's what I strive for in finding and selling every home.

My name is Renee Austin Atkinson and I have been a practicing Real Estate Broker since 2003. To enhance my knowledge and be able to offer more excellent service to my clients, I have pursued additional education in my field beyond a Broker License and I hold an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation, and a Short Sale Foreclosure Resource (SFR) designation as well. A transplant to the Lake Norman area from Richmond, Virginia, I am the mother of a 16-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and for many years I was involved in multi-family historic renovation developments in both Richmond, Virginia and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. More recently I helped developers build affordable multi-family housing across the nation through the federal housing tax-credit program. Because of my background in affordable housing, I strongly believe in helping people achieve the American Dream of homeownership. My hope is that I can help first-time home buyers make wise and conservative purchases. On the other end of the spectrum, I have a love of architecture and fine home building.
