Abstract:

The apparatus is used for closing and securing a door in its frame. A movable wedge is supported in a slot in the frame. A closing mechanism is employed for closing the door and a second mechanism is employed for moving the wedge into a slot formed in the edge of the door when the door is closed. A shape memory wire is used in conjunction with the closing mechanism for allowing the closing mechanism to close the door. A second shape memory wire is used in conjunction with the second mechanism for allowing the second mechanism to move the wedge from the frame slot into the door slot when the door is closed for securing the door to the frame.

An electrical connector for testing of a missile launch rail is provided. The electrical contacts of the connector move from a rear disengaged position to forward engaged positions via the energy of a compressed spring. The connector base has rail mounts for securing to a missile launch rail. A housing attaches to the base and houses a plunger, an insulator, electrical contacts, and a tube, which move forward and aft as a unit. A knob on a rear tube end enables a user to limit the initial impact of the electrical contacts on contact pins or striker points of a missile launch rail. The connector can provide electrical connection with launch rail pins as rail pins recede into the missile launch rail. Electrical contact position is governed, in part, by locating pins which ride in a track cut into an outer surface of the tube and move with rotation of an indexing ring.

Abstract:

There is provided an apparatus that has a sensor unit located so as to monitor physical parameters of a stove top and a control unit that is positioned to turn off the stove top heating elements in response to the sensor unit. The sensor unit has an array of sensors such as ultraviolet, infrared, temperature, smoke, and combustion byproduct sensors. The sensor unit also has a microcontroller in the form of a neural network that is able to distinguish between a hazardous fire condition and a non-hazardous fire condition on the stove top. The neural network is trained by exposing the sensor unit to a variety of hazardous conditions and non-hazardous conditions and identifying to the neural network whether these conditions are hazardous or non-hazardous. Once the neural network has been trained, the sensor unit monitors the stove top and if it detects a hazardous condition, it signals the control unit, which turns the heat off on the stove top.

Abstract:

The reed employs two spaced apart cylinders with slots in their outer surfaces. The slots extend around the axis of each cylinder a given distance. The slots of each cylinder flare out from each other from one edge to an opposite edge. Dents are supported for movement between the two cylinders and have guides located in the slots of each cylinder. The two cylinders can be rotated together in one direction or in an opposite direction for causing the slots to move the guides and hence the dents apart or together to obtain changes in the width of the fabric along the warp direction. This change in width will cause the warp density to vary along the length of the fabric while maintaining continuous warp yarn. This feature also allows warp strands of different cross-section to be woven.

Abstract:

A stovetop fire suppression system for selectively releasing a fire suppressant powder onto a stovetop first or second burner. The stovetop fire suppression system includes a base member and a chute member secured to the base member at opposed first and second ends of the base member. The chute member is movable between a storage position and a dispensing position. The suppression system further includes a first actuating member disposed at the base section first end and a second actuating member disposed at the base section second end. In response to actuation of the first actuating member, the chute member is movable the dispensing position to release the fire suppressant powder onto the first burner, and in response to actuation of the second actuating member, the chute member moves to the dispensing position to release the fire suppressant powder onto the second burner.

An initiator with fuse device for an automatic self-contained fire suppressor and method are provided herein. Stovetop fires are a well-known residential and commercial hazard. An initiator with fuse device provides a reliable activation of an automatic stovetop fire suppressor. Abstract:

An automatic stovetop fire suppressor is activated by a shuttle actuator. The self-contained and closed container device provides a gradual release of a fire suppressing agent in a desired distribution pattern. A method of reliable and spatial agent release are provided herein. A plastic cone shaped lid seals on the bottom of a can and forms a closed container. The closed container is filled with a fire suppressing agent. An initiator charge is housed external to the container of fire suppressing agent and is fuse activated. The activated charge displaces the shuttle. As the shuttle displaces, vertical support for the bottom cone lid is removed and a compression spring breaks a circumferential seal between the bottom lid and container cylindrical sidewall and lowers the bottom lid exposing a radial opening. Fire suppressing agent flows out of the radial opening, suppressing a stovetop fire.
