Abstract:
A first heat sink is built including two sets of fins with a gap between the two fin sets. The gap is configured to allow the placement of a second heat sink between the two fin sets of the first heat sink. The first heat sink also includes slotted mounting lugs to allow the second heat sink to be mounted to the first heat sink allowing for varying stack up tolerances of the heat generating devices cooled by the first and second heat sinks.

Abstract:
Embodiments include apparatus, methods, and systems providing a heatsink for electronic heat generating components. In one embodiment, the heatsink includes a metal base having a plurality of grooves, and a plurality of graphite fins connected to the base. The fins thermally dissipate heat from the base and into a surrounding environment. The fins are secured within the grooves with an interference fit produced by thermally expanding the base.

Abstract:
Systems associated with moving heat out of a computer are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes a large heat exchanger, large, quiet, automatically redundant fans, automatically redundant pumps, and a leak containment apparatus. The example system may also include logics for selectively controlling air flow, liquid flow, and flow paths.
A tile overlay system and method for covering a defined base surface area with tiles of a predetermined size for placement in a predetermined pattern that forms a space between each tile. The tiles are placed according to a grid defined on the base surface area to form the predetermined pattern. Prior to placement of the tiles, a transparent liquid adhesive is applied over the base surface area which allows the grid to appear through the layer of liquid adhesive. While the adhesive is in the liquid form, a granular filler material is broadcasted in the space between the tiles. The granular filler material is absorbed into the liquid adhesive to integrally bond therewith wherein the adhesive layer cures after the placement of the tiles, and after placement of the granular filler material thereby bonding the tiles and the granular filler material to the base surface area. Subsequently, a continuous transparent top coat is applied in liquid form over the tiles and granular filler material to form a continuous top surface that seals the tiles and the granular filler material.
Dampening Acoustic Vibrations Within An Electronic System

Abstract:
An electronic system includes a component that heats up during operation and an acoustic dampening air moving assembly. The acoustic dampening air moving assembly includes air moving blades, a motor, a support structure and a housing. The motor is attached to the air moving blades to rotate the air moving blades. The support structure supports the motor and the air moving blades within the housing. The housing and the support structure at least partially include a material selected for its acoustic dampening characteristics. The acoustic dampening air moving assembly moves air to the component to cool the component. The selected material dampens acoustic vibrations within the electronic system.
Wearable Lap Blanket Allowing Movement In Seated Or Standing Positions
A wearable insulating blanket for the lower body and legs, that when worn permits the use of the feet and also unhindered transition between seated and standing positions. The assembly includes an outer weather- and wear-resistant shell layer, suitably formed of water-resistant nylon fabric, and an inner insulating layer, suitably formed of synthetic fleece. The main panel of the blanket extends substantially continuously across the front of the wearer's legs and lower abdomen, with the edges of the blanket converging at the rear. The blanket is secured to the wearer's waist by an adjustable quick-release waist strap, while an adjustable-length vertical vent at the front of the blanket permits free movement of the legs and feet without excessive exposure and heat loss. The edges of the adjustable vent are optionally attached to the two rear edges of the blanket by detachable leg straps that hold the lower edges of the blanket in place on the legs, e.g., against being blown up by wind. The combination of protection/warmth and freedom of leg movement provided by the blanket is advantageous for persons engaged in activities that require them to be seated in a cold or exposed environment yet still need be free to move their legs/feet and frequently change between seated and standing positions, such as bus and delivery drivers, fishermen, spectators at sporting events, and so on.
