My five books include: ZISHE THE STRONGMAN, CURTAINS UP! – THEATRE GAMES & STORYTELLING, HINTS FOR TEACHING SUCCESS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, and two young adult novels - WHO WANTS TO BE A HERO!(made into a movie for “Showtime” by Learning Corporation) and WHEN SIRENS SCREAM. “The Passover Guest” is included in Eric Kimmel’s award-winning WONDERS & MIRACLES, and “Jacob’s Pillow” is in SACRED STONES. I taught a wide variety of classes - medieval times, storytelling, sports history, movies & writing, monsters, and the nationally known Troupe of Tellers - as part of the curriculum at Roosevelt Middle School in Eugene, Oregon. During these years, I gave workshops for the National Middle School Association, Oregon Library Association, National Storytelling Conference, and the International Reading Association. In addition, I am a professional storyteller with four recordings, and have produced and directed Eugene, Oregon’s Multi-Cultural Storytelling Festival for twenty years. My articles have been published in THE HUMANIST, Z MAGAZINE, THE WORLD & I, LEARNING, MIDDLE GROUND, and others.
