Abstract:
A disposable beverage container lid that includes a top wall with a drinking opening formed therein, an annular sidewall downwardly depending from the periphery of the top wall for engaging with the rim of a beverage container, a regulator valve formed directly underneath the drinking opening, and wave-breaker and periphery inhibitor recesses formed in the top wall, to allow the user to drink from the cup without removing the lid while greatly minimizing accidental splashing of the liquid from the cup. The regulator valve includes side and bottom walls with apertures formed therein. The wave-breaker recess has a sidewall portion that reflects waves of liquid from the regulator valve, and another sidewall portion that defines a channel with the annular sidewall in which the regulator valve is disposed. The inhibitor recesses extend down into the channel to prevent waves of liquid traveling therethrough.

The regulator valve includes side and bottom walls with apertures formed therein, with the apertures including generally taper shaped portions terminating in irregularly shaped edges. The wave-breaker recess has a sidewall portion that reflects waves of liquid from the regulator valve, and a sloped sidewall portion that defines a channel with the annular sidewall in which the regulator valve is disposed. The inhibitor recesses extend down into the channel to prevent waves of liquid traveling therethrough.
Process For Preparing Oxidatively Stable Polyurethane Foam
Flexible cellular polyurethane exhibiting excellent thermal and oxidative stability can be prepared using specified complexes of organotin halides or pseudo halides with amines, phosphines or phosphine oxides as latent polymerization catalysts. These catalysts also eliminate the shrinkage that often characterizes cellular polyurethanes prepared using organotin compounds as the polymerization catalyst.
Thermoplastic Composition Containing A Poly(Methyl Ethenyl Benzene) Resin And A Poly(Phenylene Oxide) Resin
Thermoplastic blends having superior capability and homogeneity comprising a poly(phenylene oxide) resin and a resin of poly(methyl ethenyl benzene) isomers in which the predominant isomer is 1-methyl-4-ethenyl benzene, are disclosed. The poly(phenylene oxide) resin can contain substituted phenylene units and the poly(methyl ethenyl benzene) resin can be a polymer of solely methyl ethenyl benzene isomers, or a random, block or graft copolymer comprising 50 weight percent or more of methyl ethenyl benzene isomers and up to 50 weight percent of other ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
High Resiliency Foam With Improved Load Bearing Ability By Use Of Organotin Mercaptides
The load-bearing characteristics of high resiliency polyurethane foams, as expressed by the loading required to obtain a 65% reduction in thickness, are significantly improved using as the gel catalyst certain diorganotin mercaptides or mercaptoesters.

Polyurethanes incorporating 2,3-dibromobutenediol-1. 4, as a reactive fire-retardant component and chain extender, in combination with organophosphorous compounds, to effect a decrease in the amount of brominated diol necessary, and thus in the bromine content of the resin, to provide fire-retardant polyurethane products manifesting significantly reduced smoke emission in the event of combustion and other enhanced physical properties.

Abstract:
A display construction assembly is provided in order to enable packaging, assembly and transportation ease. The invention focuses on the particular structure of the main display pole of the assembly, wherein segments thereof are connected by use of a connecting insert, preferably made of nylon or other synthetic material, formed to include upwardly and downwardly extending elements from a central, washer-shaped integral flange. The extending elements fit into segments of the main display pole and the washer is either coextensive in outside diameter with the outside diameter of the main display pole, or, in the alternative, extending beyond such outside diameter to better support a rotating part of the display. As a further alternative, all circular cross-section parts of the structure of the present invention can be made square in cross-section, with the same general construction and function as the preferred embodiment.
