Philosophy:
Marcy Henson is a Family Nurse Practitioner that is Board Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated with her Masters of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from TWU in 2007. She is currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, American Association of Critical Care Nursing and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Since graduation, Marcy has dedicated most of her time to caring for patients at the ChildrenâÂÂs and Community Health Center which is an indigent care clinic that provides free services to citizens of Collin County that do not have access to healthcare. Prior to completing an advance practice degree, she worked as a Registered Nurse from 1995 to 2007. As an RN, she worked as a Trauma ICU Nurse, Cardiac Critical Care Nurse, Clinical Educator, Critical Care Educator, Basic Life Support Instructor and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor. In 2004, completed disaster relief training in Collin County and served as a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Team from 2004-2006. Marcy currently teaches as a guest instructor intermittently, including at TWU in the Masters of Science FNP program. Marcy has received many awards and recognitions during her healthcare career including Presidential Award for Outstanding Contribution to a College in 1995 and Texas House of Representatives Award for Outstanding Contribution to a College. Marcy was the only RN selected with a team of doctors to be on the Emergency Medical Team in 2000 for the US Olympic Triathlon Trials in Dallas. Marcy was a recipient of the North Texas Nurse Practitioner Scholarship in 2007. As a healthcare provider, Marcy's goal is to empower patients to take charge of their own health by providing them valuable information that allows them to make informed and educated decisions regarding their personal health. She believes that preventive medicine should be our first priority and it is our role to provide the necessary information to patients to help them accomplish those goals of staying well and preventing illness.
Marcy lives in Prosper, TX with her husband of 23 years and her only daughter. They love to spend time together as a family, with the majority of that spent time watching her daughter play volleyball, traveling, attending church activities and local mission projects.
