Abstract:
A method for forming an antimicrobially-treated fabric is provided. The method includes forming a solution from a liquid and an antimicrobial agent, such as 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyloctadecyldimethyl ammonium chloride. In one embodiment, a cellulosic fibrous material is combined with the solution while in the pulper to form a liquid suspension such that the antimicrobial agent becomes substantive to the cellulosic fibrous material. A web is formed from the antimicrobially-treated cellulosic fibrous material such that substantially all of the cellulosic fibrous material present within the web is derived from the antimicrobially-treated cellulosic fibrous material. In one embodiment, the web of antimicrobially-treated fibrous material is also hydraulically entangled with a nonwoven substrate. In some embodiments, when dried, the antimicrobial agent forms a covalent bond with the cellulosic fibrous material.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses and claims a fill system and method for reducing the chemical concentration gradient in absorbent materials. The fill system includes a source of liquid connected to a nozzle for dispensing the liquid into a container. The nozzle includes a dispersal face that defines primary apertures approximately equidistant from the outer perimeter and center point on the dispersal face. The nozzle may also include secondary apertures proximate to the outer perimeter and one or more tertiary apertures proximate to the center point. The dispersal of fluid through the secondary or tertiary apertures may be less approximately one-half of the dispersal of fluid through the primary apertures.

Abstract:
A composite fabric is provided that contains staple fibers hydraulically entangled with a nonwoven web formed from continuous filaments. A portion of the staple fibers is entangled with the web, while another portion protrudes through the web. The resulting surface topography has one surface with a preponderance of the smooth, staple fibers, and another surface with a preponderance of the continuous filaments from the nonwoven web, but also including some of the protruded smooth, staple fibers. Thus, each surface contains smooth staple fibers and is soft.
A pre-moistened wiper that exhibits good antimicrobial kill at relatively small levels of antimicrobial agent is provided. In one embodiment, for example, the wiper contains a sanitizing formulation that includes between about 0. 01% by weight to about 1% by weight of an antimicrobial agent, including a quaternary ammonium compound, and water. The sanitizing formulation is capable of being released from the wiper as a solution such that the quaternary ammonium compound is present within the solution in an amount less than about 2000 parts per million of the solution. The wiper can exhibit a log reduction for of at least about 2.

Abstract:
A multi-panel sterilization assembly that includes a barrier panel formed of a permeable material, a fold protection panel, and at least one panel attachment means. The barrier panel has a first end and a second end opposite the first end such that the barrier panel has a length that is the distance from the first end to the second end and a midpoint along the length generally delineating the barrier panel into a content receiving region and a content covering region. Panel attachment means are located between the first end and the midpoint of the barrier panel at a pre-determined position to identify the content receiving region. The fold protection panel is in juxtaposed communication with the barrier panel, and has a proximal end generally adjacent the barrier panel, a distal end generally opposite the proximal end, and a length that is the distance between these ends, such that, after the barrier panel has been folded at or near the barrier panel's midpoint so its second end is brought near its first end and its edges brought together and secured by the panel attachment means to form a package, the fold protection panel folds at or near the pre-determined fold line to cover at least a portion of the edges of the folded barrier panel.

Abstract:
A multi-panel sterilization assembly includes a barrier panel formed of a permeable material, a fold protection panel, and at least one panel attachment means. The barrier panel has a first end, an opposed second end, and a midpoint delineating the barrier panel into a content receiving region and a content covering region. Panel attachment means are located at or near edges of the barrier panel to identify the content receiving region. The fold protection panel has a proximal end and an opposed distal end. After the barrier panel is folded at or near the midpoint to bring its second end near its first end and its edges are brought together and secured by the panel attachment means to form a package, the fold protection panel folds at or near a pre-determined fold line to cover at least a portion of the edges of the folded barrier panel.

Abstract:
Self-fitting device for location in ear canal and related method, including a bladder joined with a pump assembly via a valve assembly. The pump assembly transfers air to the bladder and achieves a predetermined pressure with the chamber regardless of ear canal size. The predetermined pressure may be achieved by reducing excess air pressure through the valve assembly.
