Abstract:

Improved methods for treating neoplastic diseases such as cancer are provided by using muteins of human tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Compared to wild-type human TNF-α these therapeutic TNF muteins have higher specific anti-tumor activity, but with much reduced systemic toxicity and milder side effects such chills and fever. In addition, potentially synergistic, novel combinations of the inventive TNF-α muteins with other anti-neoplastic agents are provided for effectively treating patients having particular types of cancer or malignancy or at particular stages of cancer development, and for mitigating resistance of the patients to treatment of non-TNF antineoplastic agents.

Abstract:

Systems and methods for determining consensus base calls in nucleic acid sequencing are provided. A sequencing dataset is obtained corresponding to a plurality of base reads for a first base position within a plurality of base positions of a target nucleic acid molecule. The sequencing dataset includes at least two features, for each base read of the plurality of base reads. The at least two features are selected from among the features: a nucleotide base, a read quality score, a strand identifier, a trinucleotide context of the base read, and a confidence score associated with the trinucleotide context. The sequencing dataset is transformed into a feature tensor representing a distribution of the plurality of features in the sequencing dataset. The feature tensor is assessed with a classifier to determine a consensus base call for the first base position. The consensus base call comprises a predicted nucleotide base.

Abstract:

With its unique composite network structure of micro-cavities and microfilaments, a material can mimic the skin barrier function: capable of shielding contamination, moisture absorption, moisture retention, breathability, pliability and adhesion. It is capable of absorbing wound exudates to facilitate rapid, non-invasive autolytic debridement and bi-directional regulation to ensure sufficient drainage, but also targetedly and compartmentally retaining exudates in the dressing to maintain a semi-occlusive local environment with a physiological moisture balance, which is conducive to intercellular and intracellular signal transduction, promoting migration of autologous fibroblasts and epithelial cells, regeneration of granulation tissue and epithelium, accelerating physiological healing and restoration, and reducing recurrence.
