A system and method for providing and managing location-based interactive content, including messages sent to specific location-based screens via mobile communication devices or the Internet. The location-based screens are display devices connected to a central content server that may be a central website, by a first network that may be the Internet. Each location-based display device may be independently controlled by a communications management module at the central website. The communications management module includes software and hardware so that it may record a user's responses and may update any screen according to system policies.

Abstract:

Systems and methods automatically obtain contents and display the contents on location-specific display screens, based on content attributes associated with the screens. Associating content attributes (“tags”) with the screens allows administrators to specify the types of contents desired for display on the screens. For example, an establishment that caters to customers of a particular demographic (such as 21-27 year old singles, families with children, fans of rock-and-roll music, “bikers,” sports fans or ice cream lovers) may associate one or more content attributes (such as “dating,” “Disney,” “Led Zeppelin,” or “Red Sox”) with its display screen. The system then automatically obtains contents based on the attribute(s) and displays the contents on the screen. Patrons with mobile telephones or web-based users may send text messages for display on the screen or play interactive games displayed on the screen, as described in the incorporated patent application. However, even absent such activity, the disclosed systems and methods populate the screen with potentially ever-changing contents, thereby keeping the screen “fresh” and avoiding a situation known as the “ghost town” effect.

Abstract:

Game players interact with a game system using mobile devices, such as mobile telephones, without violating the Federal Wire Act. The game system ensures that a player is within the same state as the game system, with which the player interacts. A player's inputs may be associated with a fixed-location display screen. Unique identifying information is displayed on fixed-location screens or on groups of co-located screens, such as screens co-located in a betting parlor, and the player is required to enter the identifying information or use the identifying information to establish a connection with the game system. Alternatively, the game system associates the player's input with the player's mobile device. A player records a telephone number of the player's mobile device on a game card, and the game card is read by a card reader/receipt printer. Upon reading the game card, the game system stores the telephone number of the player's mobile device and thereafter associates payer inputs with the mobile device identified by the game card.

A system and method of interactive, location-based presentation and advertising that enables users with wireless network addressable communications devices to control multi-media content on network addressable screens and enables marketers to track, monitor and respond to users interactions in real time. A Proxy Gateway directs a network addressable client PC, connected to a digital display, to serve local content or pull content from one or more web servers. A wireless, network addressable device, typically a mobile phone, is used to communicate commands to the physically remote Proxy Gateway. The Proxy Gateway bridges between the communications device and the display by interpreting the commands from the communications device, forwarding them to the client PC which may pull content from the appropriate web server, or display native message content.
