Abstract:

Apparatus is described for use in an industrial plant that contain machines (14) having oil reservoirs (12), which facilitates cleaning of the oil. The apparatus includes a stand (20) and equipment mounted on the stand, including input and output hoses (36,38) whose ends can be dropped into a machine oil reservoir. The equipment on the stand also includes a centrifuge (24), pump (26), valve (34), and porous filter device (40). In a first mode of operation, the pump draws oil from the reservoir to flow through the input hose into the centrifuge, and then to the output hose to flow back to the reservoir. The valve can be switched to a second mode wherein fluid from the input hose is directed through the pump to the porous filter device, for final cleaning of the oil before returning it to the reservoir. The stand has wheels to enable it to roll to another machine and clean its oil.

Abstract:

An electronic lock mechanism in which the odds against picking or unauthorized opening are extremely high, and wherein an electrically operable bolt is connected with the output of an oscillator in the bolt control circuitry that includes a resistance bridge network including regenerative differential electronic switches connected to selectively activate a pair of relays with series connected contacts in accordance with the direction of unbalance of the bridge, and to activate both relays in response to a balanced operative mode of the bridge so that the relay contacts will coact to close a power supply connection to the oscillator. A control key insertable in a mating keyhole is operative to connect the bridge with a voltage source, insert a resistor component into the bridge network of a value to balance the bridge, and also place a resonating capacitor into a tuned circuit of the oscillator and thereby activate the lock bolt to an unlocked position. An additional security feature includes an RC circuit for introducing a predetermined delay in the time required for the bridge to reach a balanced operation mode.

Abstract:

A system is provided for changing hydraulic oil in vehicles such as airplanes, which enables rapid replacement of dirty oil and rapid cleaning of oil to meet military/commercial aircraft specifications for reuse. The apparatus includes a frame (40), dirty and clean oil tanks (14, 16) mounted on the frame, a filter tank (30) with filters (32) mounted on the frame, and pump and valve means (20) for controlling the flow of oil. Initially, the apparatus is rolled up to an airplane, dirty oil in the hydraulic reservoir of the plane is pumped into the dirty oil tank, and clean oil from the clean oil tank is pumped into the airplane reservoir. Thereafter, while the apparatus is moved or is stationary, dirty oil from the dirty oil tank is pumped through filters of the filter tank and into the clean oil tank for an initial cleaning, and thereafter the oil is continually circulated from the clean oil tank through the filtered tank and back to the clean oil tank to polish the oil. The filter tank includes a filter region divider (64) that divides the filters into two groups (90, 92), a manifold divider (66), and a series conduit (84) that connects the first manifold region part (74) to the second filter region part (72).

Abstract:

A high flow filter system uses readily available filters of moderate capacity to provide a high capacity flow in a reliable and easily maintained structure. The system includes a pressure vessel (20, FIG. 2) with inlet and outlet ports (16, 42), and an outlet conduit structure (68) which holds multiple moderate capacity filters (50). The filters are exposed to the inside of the vessel, and pressured fluid in the vessel flows through the filters with the filtered fluid flowing into center conduits (54) that extend vertically through a central passage of each filter. In one system, the filtered fluid flows through the lower end of each center conduit, through radial conduits (60, 61) and a manifold or spider hub part (62) to a pipe (44) that extends through the vessel outlet port. In another system, the lower ends of the center conduits are connected through holes of a manifold plate, to a manifold region. A plurality of fittings (64) are each connected to the top of a central conduit with each fitting having an upper end received in a stabilizer (70).

Abstract:

A system is described for use in an auto maintenance shop which receives oil from the changing of vehicle oil and oil filters, to recycle the oil. The system includes an apparatus (10) that has a tank reservoir (12) for receiving contaminated oil. The apparatus also includes equipment mounted on the housing, comprising a centrifuge (24), a pump device (26), a valve (34), and a porous filter device (40). In a first mode of operation, the pump draws oil from the reservoir to flow through an input tube (36) into the centrifuge, and then to an output tube (38) to flow back to the reservoir. The centrifuge is operated long enough so the amount of oil flowing through it is at least ten times the amount of oil in the reservoir. The valve is then switched to a second mode wherein fluid from the input tube is directed through the pump to the porous filter device, for final cleaning of the oil before returning it to the reservoir.

Abstract:

A free-floating self-contained swimming pool alarm unit in which a hollow housing forms a float structure having an internal chamber within which an audible alarm device is mounted adjacent sound transmitting openings in a top wall of the housing. An upstanding flared chimney surrounds the openings and provides a sound amplifying horn, the outer end of the chimney being provided with a shielding cap. Electronic control is arranged to trigger and activate the alarm device by connecting it to an electric source in the housing in response to the operation of a liquid sensor switch as a result of tilting movements of the housing due to wave disturbances produced by an object or person falling into the pool. Once the alarm is triggered, it will continue to operate until deactivated by an appropriate switch such as a manual switch mounted in an accessible portion of the housing.
