Abstract:

The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions which include (-)-pseudoephedrine and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the (-)-pseudoephedrine is substantially-free of (+)-pseudoephedrine. In another embodiment, the present invention provides methods of relieving nasal and bronchial congestion and of inducing pupil dilation which include administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of (-)-pseudoephedrine to a mammal. The (-)-pseudoephedrine used in the present methods is substantially free of (+)-pseudoephedrine and also substantially free of side effects caused by administration of (+)-pseudoephedrine.

A multiped, capable of traveling in more than one direction along a molecular path in a nano-robotic system where the steps taken by the feet of the multiped are controlled in a sequence specific fashion, is presented. The feet of the multiped dock to footholds on the molecular path via cohesion with “set” molecules and are released from the footholds through the introduction of “unset” molecules that detach or strip away the “set” molecules.

Abstract:

A method for modeling requirements of a product includes defining an abstract use case for each feature of said product, hierarchically decomposing each abstract use case until concrete use cases are specified for each feature, depicting every actor who would use the product as communicating with a concrete use case through a boundary, and programmatically extracting requirements from the use case diagram. Programmatically extracting requirements further includes converting use case diagrams into directed acyclic graphs, where each use case corresponds to a node of a graph and each relationship between a pair of use cases is represented by a directed edge between the corresponding pair of nodes in the graph where a directed edge points from a parent node to a child node, converting the directed acyclic graph into a tree, and searching the tree to extract the requirements.

Abstract:

Apparatus for counting and stacking sheets in which document length and multiple fed sheets are detected by examining sheet transmissivity. The light directed through moving sheets fed one at a time through a sensor location is modulated according to sheet transmissivity. The signal for each sheet is compared against the signal for the prior sheet to determine the feeding of multiple sheets. Sheet length is determined through the use of a pair of sensors which provide for counting of sheets which may be fed in a skewed manner. A skew value is used to modify the value obtained when measuring document length to permit accurate counting of both skewed and unskewed sheets. Both hardware and software techniques are utilized to obtain the desired results.
