Abstract:
The invention is a process for stereoselectively producing a dioxolane nucleoside analogue from an anomeric mixture of and anomers represented by the following formula A or formula B: wherein R is selected from the group consisting of C alkyl and C aryl and Bz is benzoyl. The process comprises hydrolyzing said mixture with an enzyme selected from the group consisting of Protease N, Alcalase, Savinase, ChiroCLEC-BL, PS-30, and ChiroCLEC-PC to stereoselectively hydrolyze predominantly one anomer to form a product wherein R is replaced with H. The process also includes the step of separating the product from unhydrolyzed starting material. Additionally, the functional group at the C4 position is stereoselectively replaced with a purinyl or pyrimidinyl or derivative thereof.

Abstract:
A method for inspecting a semiconductor wafer using an SEM having a nominal focal plane and operable for guiding a beam. The SEM having a stage movable in each of an X-, Y-, and Z-direction, including moving the SEM stage in the XY-direction to a first location for inspection, optically sensing the location of the top surface of an area in relation to the focal plane of the stage, adjusting the position of the stage in the Z-direction so that the top surface of the area is substantially at the focal plane, inspecting the areas, and moving the stage in the XY-direction to the next location such that the next area is under the SEM beam for inspection. The Z-stage using a non-contact optical sensor to provide feedback to drive a plurality of piezoelectric actuator to move the wafer to the focal plane.

Abstract:
Method and apparatus for removing and neutralizing charges. The method includes loading a structure into a chamber. The structure includes a first surface and a plurality of charges away from the first surface. Additionally, the method includes supplying a first ionized gas to the first surface of the structure, and radiating the structure with a first ultraviolate light. The supplying a first ionized gas and the radiating the structure with a first ultraviolate light are performed simultaneously for a first period of time.

Abstract:
An electrochemical cell for detection and quantification of analytes in a liquid sample, particularly a liquid sample having a small volume. In a preferred embodiment, the electrochemical cell comprises an assembly of conducting layers and insulating layers. The electrochemical cell can be formed by depositing conducting materials and insulating materials in alternating layers on an insulating substrate. It is preferred that the layer furthest from the insulating substrate be an insulating layer to minimize the damage of the conducting layers during handling of the electrochemical cell. In another embodiment, the assembly of conducting layers and insulating layers can be formed on both major surfaces of the insulating substrate. The assembly can comprise at least one working electrode and at least one other electrode, e. g. , a dual-purpose reference/counter electrode.

Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and method of multiple antenna receiver combining of high data rate wideband packetized wireless communication signals, where the apparatus includes M receive antennas, receiving M high data rate wideband packetized wireless communication signals, where each of the signals includes N frequency bins. The apparatus, in an exemplary embodiment, includes (1) a joint timing recovery units that perform joint coarse signal timing estimation, joint frequency offset estimation, and joint fine timing estimation on each of the signals, (2) M Fast Fourier Transform units (FFTs) that each convert the digital data for each of the M signals into frequency domain information for each of the N received frequencies and that output Q pilots for each of the signals, where Q is a positive integer, and (3) a combiner that weights and combines the outputs of the M FFTs for each of the N received frequencies.
