Abstract:

A plunge router and kit are provided. In some aspects, a kit includes a first router base, a second router base, a motor assembly, and a depth adjustment mechanism at least partially supported by the motor assembly. The motor assembly is interchangeably supported by the first and second router bases. The depth adjustment mechanism adjusts a depth of cut of a tool element relative to the router base on which it is supported. The motor assembly may also be inserted into and supported by the first and second router bases along a substantially linear path. In other aspects, a depth of cut of a plunge router is finely adjustable. The depth of cut may also be coarsely adjustable.

Abstract:

A tool operable to expand an end of a pipe includes a plurality of jaws movable between a closed position and an expanded position and rotatable about a longitudinal axis and a rotation collar rotationally coupled to each of the plurality of jaws. A shuttle is selectively engageable with the rotation collar and is rotatable between a first orientation and a second orientation and a spindle is movable between a first position in which the shuttle is in the first orientation and is disengaged from the rotation collar, a second position in which the shuttle is in the first orientation and is engaged with the rotation collar, and a third position in which the shuttle and the rotation collar are rotated together to the second orientation. The rotation of the rotation collar produces a corresponding rotation of the plurality of jaws while the plurality of jaws is in the closed position. Movement of the spindle to a fourth position moves the plurality of jaws to the expanded position and maintains the engagement of the shuttle and the rotation collar in the second orientation.

A blade removal mechanism is moveable between a first position and a second position for engaging a band saw blade. The blade removal mechanism includes a first member for positioning adjacent a blade-receiving space of the band saw, the first member engageable with the band saw blade when the blade removal mechanism is in the second position. The mechanism also includes an actuator coupled to the first member for transmitting movement to the first member and a biasing member for biasing the actuator and the first member to the first position and away from the band saw blade.

Abstract:

A rotary hammer includes a motor, a spindle coupled to the motor for receiving torque from the motor, a piston at least partially received within the spindle for reciprocation therein, a striker received within the spindle for reciprocation in response to reciprocation of the piston, and an anvil received within the spindle and positioned between the striker and a tool bit. The rotary hammer also includes a retainer received within the spindle for selectively securing the striker in an idle position in which it is inhibited from reciprocating within the spindle, and an O-ring positioned between the retainer and the spindle. The O-ring is disposed around an outer peripheral surface of the anvil. The O-ring is compressible in response to the striker assuming the idle position. The compressed O-ring imparts a frictional force on the outer peripheral surface of the anvil to decelerate the anvil.

Abstract:

A power tool having a paddle switch is configured to allow easier actuation of a switch mechanism. The power tool comprises a housing, a support surface disposed within the housing, a switch mechanism having a first position and a second position, a paddle member including an input surface and a hinge pin positioned a distance from the support surface, and a multiplier member pivotally connected to the hinge pin and having a first arm and a second arm. The first arm of the multiplier member extends from the hinge pin along a first longitudinal axis, and the second arm of the multiplier member extends from the hinge pin along a second longitudinal axis that is not parallel to the first longitudinal axis. The second arm is disposed to contact the support surface when force is applied to the input surface, causing rotation of the multiplier member about the hinge pin. The rotation of the hinge pin causes the first arm to contact the switch mechanism and move it from the first position to the second position.
