Abstract:

The invention is a dual release actuating assembly. In detail, the invention includes a link having first and second ends and a center section. A locking mechanism having a pin coupled to the center section of the is provided to prevent movement of the pin. An actuation rod is coupled to the second end of the link. A first actuator coupled to the first end of the link for moving the actuation rod in a first direction. A second actuator is coupled to the first end of the link for moving the actuation rod in a second direction. A unlocking system is includes to release the locking mechanism such that pin may translate allowing the link to rotate about the first end.

Abstract:

In order to control the deployment of secondary deployment structures in a deployment system that includes both a primary and a secondary deployment, an improved deployment sequencer utilizes the rotational motion of primary deployment structures. In particular, the rotational motion serves to control the retention and release of the secondary deployment structures during the primary deployment. Still more specifically, the deployment sequencer restrains the deployment of the secondary deployment structures until the primary deployment structures have deployed or rotated far enough so that collisions between the secondary deployment structures are avoided.

Abstract:

A mechanism for attaching a bike rack to a vehicle including a support member located behind an exterior wall of the vehicle. An attachment assembly, including a receiver operative to move between the first, stowed position any second, use position is connected to the support member. The exterior wall includes a removable portion wherein upon removal provides access to the attachment assembly. Once the removable portion is removed, the attachment assembly, including the receiver is moved from the first, stowed position to the second, use position wherein the bike rack then connects to the receiver. Additionally, the removable portion may include a detachable license plate bracket, which upon being detached from the vehicle, can be mounted to the rear of a bike rack. Sensors are mounted on the license plate bracket to allow for a functional back-up or park assist when the bike rack is attached to rear of the vehicle.
