Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for computer aided design of physical structures using generative design processes, where the 3D models of the physical structures are produced so as to facilitate manufacturing of the physical structures using 2.5-axis subtractive manufacturing systems and techniques, include: obtaining a design space for an object to be manufactured, design criteria, and load case(s); iteratively modifying a generatively designed 3D shape of the modeled object, including generating 2D profile representations (corresponding to discrete layers) of an updated version of the 3D shape, extruding the 2D profile representations along the milling direction, and forming a next version of the 3D shape of the modeled object from a combination of the 3D representations produced by the extruding; and providing the generatively designed 3D shape of the modeled object for use in manufacturing the physical structure using a 2.5-axis subtractive manufacturing process.

The orientation of rocks can tell you something about any magnetic field that may have existed on the planet, adds Benjamin Weiss, professor of planetary sciences at MIT. You can also study how water and lava flowed on the planet, the direction of the ancient wind, and tectonic processes, like wh

Moon's magnetic field disappeared a BILLION years ago after its 'internal dynamo' stopped
'A strong field on the moon may have shielded the surface from the solar wind, the supersonic plasma emitted from the sun,' planetary scientist Benjamin Weiss of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology told Newsweek.

Moon magnetic field was 120% stronger than Earth, study says
of uncertainty around the moon has existed for decades, even before the Apollo missions and the decade-long race to get to the moon in the 60s. Earth has a magnetic field strength today of 50 microteslas, according to Benjamin Weiss, a planetary scientist at MIT and the co-author of this study. F
Earths magnetic fieldis currently 50 microteslas in strength. The early moon may have had a magnetic field that was bigger, maybe up to more than 70 microteslas, said planetary scientist Benjamin Weiss, who co-authored the recent study. Its hard to understand how the moons magnetic field could

Moon Once Had a Magnetic Field Stronger than the Earth
For their study published in the journal Scienceon Dec. 5, Benjamin Weiss from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Sonia Tikoo from the University of California, Berkeley reviewed scientific data on the moon's dynamo and confirmed that 4.25 to 3.56 billion years ago, the moon had a magnet
