Abstract:
A skip-free retiming system and method for transmission of digital information in a plesiochronous data communication system is described. The system is capable of supporting an unlimited number of retimers in serial data path between a first and a last node. The retimers are configured to retime, amplify and retransmit a received data stream without altering the received data rate. Thus, the data rate from the first node is received at the same frequency at the last node, regardless of the number of retimers. In general, the retimer performs rate compensation on a retimer local clock, rather than on the data stream, so the attributes of the clean retimer clock can be applied to the data stream without changing the data rate.
Method And Apparatus For Cartilage Reshaping By Radiofrequency Heating

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reshaping cartilage using radiofrequency heating. The cartilage temperature is raised sufficiently for stress relaxation to occur in the cartilage, but low enough so that significant denaturation of the cartilage does not occur. The RF electrodes may be designed to also function as molds, preses, clamps, or mandrills to deform the cartilage tissue. Changes in various properties of the cartilage associated with stress relaxation in the cartilage may be measured in order to provide the control signal to provide effective reshaping without denaturation.

Abstract:
A time multiplexed multiple carrier transmitter includes a first data encoder that produces first transmit data and a second data encoder that produces second transmit data. In addition, the transmitter includes a digital multiplexer coupled to the first and the second data encoders. The digital multiplexer provides a transmit signal output. A transmit frequency upconverter coupled to a power amplifier and the transmit signal output provides a final upconversion (or direct upconversion) to a transmit frequency for each channel. The transmitter also includes a multiplexer control circuit coupled to the digital multiplexer through a multiplexer control input. The multiplexer control circuit produces a multiplexer control signal on the multiplex control input that selects between the first and second data encoders according to a transmit schedule. The transmit schedule determines when, at the frequency at which, the transmitter selects and transmits data from each data encoder.

Abstract:
A method of electroforming tissue comprises creating stress in the tissue; and causing a direct current to flow in the tissue to change the stress, strain, or intrinsic mechanical properties including shape of the tissue. Force is mechanically applied to the tissue to create external stresses or material parameters of the tissue are used to create internal stresses in the tissue by causing a current to flow in the tissue. The method further comprises the step of monitoring the stresses in the tissue and controlling the current flowing in the tissue according to the stresses therein by monitoring impedance, the optical properties, the pH, acoustic properties of the tissue, the gas formation in the tissue, the color of the tissue as caused by a chemical dye disposed therein or as caused by electroplating a material thereon.

Abstract:
A double-bladed cutting device providing a practical method for obtaining costal cartilage specimens in both an operating room and research setting. The device reduces the skill and time required to fashion cartilage slices, while increasing the uniformity of the cut specimens. Furthermore, via an adjustable guide, slices can be obtained precisely from the central core of the rib. Although specimen lengths up to 4 cm are preferred, longer lengths can be attained without modification of the device. The cartilage specimen may be held in place within the device via means of compression or tension.
