Abstract:

A method of brewing a fluid extract using a filter pouch containing flavor extractable particles. One step is supporting a fully compliant, fluid-permeable filter pouch partially filled with flavor extractable particles such that the pouch is inclined at an angle to horizontal ranging from about 30Â to about 90Â so that the particles accumulate at a bottom end of the filter pouch. Another step is directing brew water to near an upper end of the filter pouch above the particles. The brew water enters the filter pouch without the need for an opening in the pouch, and drops to infiltrate the particles. The particles are partially fluidized by and suspended in the brew water and they rise with the brew water into an empty portion of the filter pouch without a need for opposing sides of the filter pouch to separate to generate internal space. A further step includes brewing a fluid extract from the particles in the filter pouch and discharging the fluid extract from the filter pouch. The filter pouch has sufficient exit area that a fluid extract discharge rate matches a rate of brew water entry into the filter pouch when a fluid head is produced inside the filter pouch which is at least as great as a vertical depth of particles in the filter pouch.

A surgical light apparatus includes a hub assembly configured to be attached to a ceiling, and an arm coupled for pivotal movement about the hub assembly. In certain embodiments, a monitor is mounted on a monitor mount attached to the arm. The monitor mount includes a handle on which a first actuator is mounted. A video input controller is electrically coupled to the monitor. The video input controller includes a first channel input having a video coupling for attachment to a first video input device providing a first video feed, a second channel input having a video coupling for attachment to a second video device providing a second video feed, and a channel controller coupled to the monitor, the first channel input, and the second channel input. The channel controller is coupled to the first actuator and is configured to select a video feed to the monitor in response to actuation of the first actuator. In certain embodiments, a camera mount is mounted to the arm.

A person-support apparatus comprises a frame, a container, a gas permeable cover, a rigid diffuser, a fluidizable medium, and a cushion. Abstract:

One variant of a fluidizable bed includes a fluidizable material within a containment vessel and a filter sheet having a vent region covering a top portion of the vessel. The vent region has a permeability of less than about cubic feet per minute per square foot. Other variants of a fluidizable bed include a fluidizable material within a containment vessel , a filter sheet connected to the vessel, and a vent region of the filter sheet covering a top portion of the vessel and having a permeability sufficient to 1) establish a pressure difference across the filter sheet equal to or greater than a prescribed pressure difference threshold, or 2) support no more than a specified, non-negligible portion of an occupant's weight. Also disclosed is a fluidizable patient support system capable of supporting an occupant weighing more than about 300 pounds and preferably more than about 400 pounds while maintaining the fluidizable material in a fluidized state and 2) a fluidized bed weighing no more than about 950 pounds and 3) a fluidizable bed weighing no more than about four times the weight of an occupant thereof. Also disclosed is a fluidizable bed in which a filter sheet assumes a taut state to support some of the weight of bed occupant. Also disclosed is a retrofit kit for retrofitting pre-existing beds to take advantage of the concepts disclosed herein.
