Abstract:

The present invention provides a simplified external bone fixator assembly which allows the surgeon to snap the assembly onto a bone fixation rod at an intermediate location along the length of the rod. It is not necessary to “thread” the assembly onto the rod starting at the end and sliding it down the length of the rod to the desired location. In particular, this invention provides a novel bone pin locking assembly for use with standard bone fixation rods, and bone pins. The bone pin locking assembly includes a bone pin vise, a single-piece fixation rod clamp, and a coupling to allow relative adjustment of the pin vise and the rod clamp. The rod clamp is a single-piece construction, having a jaw capable of loosely capturing the bone fixation rod when the surgeon presses the jaw onto the rod. The assembly may be rigidly fixed to the rod using a bolt which tightens the jaw onto the rod.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a clamp assembly which allows the surgeon to snap a bone fixation assembly onto a bone fixation rod at an intermediate location along the length of the rod. Abstract:

A liquid diluting and transfer valve assembly of a type which includes at least a pair of valve elements with slidably or rotatable engageable surfaces which are frictionally movable relative to each other are provided with passageways therein in communication with liquids and diluents which are to be measured and transferred by the assembly. The valve assembly includes measure conduits which are arranged for selective communication with the passageways in the valve elements with the junctions of the measuring conduits and the passageways taking place at the engaged surfaces of the valve elements. This valve assembly is provided with an enclosure which completely surrounds and encloses the valve elements. The environment in the enclosure is controlled in order to inhibit evaporation and or dilute seepage of the fluids between the slidably engaged surfaces of the valve elements in order to prevent a buildup of contamination resulting in greater liquid leakage, wear and tear and breakdown in the valve assembly.
