Abstract:
A line driver and a method for driving a line are disclosed. The line driver includes a first current device configured to initiate a change in the state of the line and a second current device configured to substantially complete the change. The first current device provides a first current and the second current device provides a second current that is smaller than the first current.
Voice Quality Measurement For Voice Over Ip In A Wireless Local Area Network

International Classification:

US Classification:

Abstract:
In one exemplary embodiment, voice quality of Voice over IP data in a wireless network is measured by first receiving at a detector in the wireless network a set of wireless frames transmitted between a first wireless device and a second wireless device in the wireless network in a predetermined time period. The wireless frames in the set carry Voice over Internet Protocol data. A rating value indicative of voice quality is determined based on the loss rate and burst rate that are determined only using frames received by the detection during monitoring.

Abstract:
In one exemplary embodiment, a process for detecting a phone includes monitoring wirelessly transmitted traffic between first and second stations. Next, the process determines whether the traffic sent in both directions between the first and second stations are close to each other in term of traffic volume. The process identifies a total frames count of a number of frames of an identical frame size transmitted, where the number of frames is greater than any number of frames of a same size. The process calculates the percentage of the count that was just collected out of the count of the total frames. The process identifies the first station as a phone if the calculated percentage is over a first threshold and the total frames count is over a second threshold.
Pod-Based Server Backend Infrastructure For Peer-Assisted Applications

Abstract:
A backend server for a peer-to-peer network manages nodes according to a pod-based management scheme. Each pod comprises a plurality of nodes and only nodes within the same pod can directly share data in the peer-to-peer network. The server dynamically allocates nodes to pods and dynamically allocates computing resources for pushing data to the pods based on characteristics of the incoming data stream and performance of the peer-to-peer sharing. By dynamically adjusting the pod structure and resources available to them based on monitored characteristics, the server can optimize performance of the peer-to-peer network.
Network Firewall And Nat Traversal For Tcp And Related Protocols
Bo Yang - Palo Alto CA, US Evan Pedro Greenberg - Palo Alto CA, US Chen Wang - Palo Alto CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:

Abstract:
A message passing protocol allows two clients to establish a connection even when the clients are behind different NAT devices such as NAT firewalls. Beneficially, the protocol does not require that either client has knowledge of where the other client is located (e.g., behind the same NAT device or behind a different NAT device). When two clients want to establish a connection, the clients exchange identifying information with each other by passing the information through a rendezvous server. Based on the identifying information, each client determines and sends a plurality of synchronization packets to a number of different predicted addresses. When synchronization packets reach the actual addresses of both devices, a connection can be established between the clients.

Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an improved training methodology that enables supervised contrastive learning to be simultaneously performed across multiple positive and negative training examples. In particular, example aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an improved, supervised version of the batch contrastive loss, which has been shown to be very effective at learning powerful representations in the self-supervised setting. Thus, the proposed techniques adapt contrastive learning to the fully supervised setting and also enable learning to occur simultaneously across multiple positive examples.
Network Polymers And Methods Of Making And Using Same
The present invention relates to covalent adaptable networks (CANs) having exchangeable crosslinks that are able to undergo repeated covalent bond reshuffling through photo-activation at ambient temperatures. The invention provides covalent adaptable network forming compositions as well as methods of forming, remolding and recycling the CANs of the invention.
Clustering Techniques To Automatically Create Groups Of Geographic Regions

Abstract:
Techniques for automatically creating geographic region groups are provided. Attribute data about a plurality of regions is stored. Based on the attribute data, each region is classified as belonging to a tier of multiple tiers. A first set of region groups is generated, where each region group includes at least two regions assigned to different tiers. For each region group, group attribute data for that region group is generated. A comparison of first group attribute data of a first region group is performed with group attribute data of each other region group. Based on results of the comparison, first arrangement data that associates a second region group with the first region group is stored.
The development of this new material is described this week in the journal RSC: Applied Polymers, in a paper by MIT Professor Thomas J. Wallin, University of Utah Professor Chen Wang, and seven others.

Researchers build new device that is a foundation for quantum computing
"This is desirable in quantum computing," says senior author Chen Wang, assistant professor of physics at UMass Amherst, "because there are many computing scenarios where you want to give plenty of access to data without giving anyone the power to alter or degrade that data."
Wang is a co-author of the study along with Chen Wang, Xiaonan Guo, Bo Liu, and lead researcher Yingying Chen from the Stevens Institute of Technology. The group is collaborating on this and other mobile device-related security and privacy projects.
