Abstract:
A wireless terminal is described whose software are more easily upgradable than many in the prior art. Furthermore, the first illustrative embodiment of the present invention is an arrangement in which a user can easily: (1) upgrade the software in a wireless terminal, (2) change the parameters affecting the operation of the wireless terminal, (3) enable and disable features and options on the wireless terminal, (4) install software modules onto the wireless terminal and remove them, (5) reconfigure the reconfigurable hardware on the wireless terminal, (6) extract performance data from the wireless terminal for analysis and testing of the wireless terminal, and (7) load contact information (e. g. , names and associated telephone numbers, etc. ) onto the wireless terminal.

Abstract:
The leakage current thermostat is utilized in an electric heater assembly including a housing, a heating element mounted in the housing, electrical supply lines to the heating element and an electrically insulating material in contact with at least a portion of the heating element. The material has a temperature-resistance relationship such that the leakage current therethrough is a steep function of temperature. A leakage current thermostat includes a thermostat control circuit which is coupled to the supply lines and which is operative to control the current to the heating element in response to changes in the leakage current. The heating element is preferably formed by printed circuit techniques on a ceramic material which is affixed in a layer to a metal (conductive) base layer and the leakage current from the printed circuit element to the base is measured by the control circuit.

Abstract:
The backup control circuit is used with a main control circuit for a kidney dialysis machine and is operable upon failure of the main control circuit to operate with a predetermined time period to cause closing of a dialysate operate valve and opening of a dialysate bypass valve and/or stopping of a blood pump when an aberrant condition in the dialysate conductivity, temperature, flow or negative pressure are sensed and/or when an aberrant condition of the arterial or venous blood pressure is sensed and/or excessive leakage of blood into the dialysate is sensed. The backup control circuit includes control circuitry for controlling operation of the back-up control circuit, the circuitry having input contacts coupled to sensor inputs to the main control circuit. A time delay circuit has an input coupled to the control circuitry and is operable to initiate a timing cycle for the predetermined time period upon receiving an error signal from the control circuitry. Energizing and de-energizing circuitry has an input coupled to an output of the time delay circuit and outputs coupled to points in the main control circuit associated with coils for the dialysate operate valve, the dialysate bypass valve and the blood pump.

Abstract:
The invention provides a recombinant RNA molecule comprising (i) a sequence of a gene-editing molecule mRNA, or a sequence of a functional fragment or derivative thereof, and (ii) at least one sequence of a coding or non-coding enrichment RNA, or a sequence of a functional fragment or derivative thereof, wherein the enrichment RNA, or functional fragment or derivative thereof, is capable of enhancing inclusion of the gene-editing molecule mRNA, or functional fragment or derivative thereof, into a retroviral particle. The invention provides a method of producing the retroviral particles of the invention, the method comprising culturing a packaging cell in conditions sufficient for the production of a plurality of retroviral particles.

A microdevice for monitoring a target analyte is provided. The microdevice can include a field effect transistor comprising a substrate, a gate electrode, and a microfluidic channel including graphene. The microfluidic channel can be formed between drain electrodes and source electrodes on the substrate. The microdevice can also include at least one aptamer functionalized on a surface of the graphene. The at least one aptamer can be adapted for binding to the target analyte. Binding of the target analyte to the at least one aptamer can alter the conductance of the graphene.

Abstract:
Non-human animal cells and non-human animals comprising a humanized Asgr1 locus and methods of using such non-human animal cells and non-human animals are provided. Non-human animal cells or non-human animals comprising a humanized Asgr1 locus express a human ASGR1 protein or an Asgr1 protein, fragments of which are from human ASGR1. Methods are provided for using such non-human animals comprising a humanized Asgr1 locus to assess in vivo efficacy of human-ASGR1-mediated delivery of therapeutic molecules or therapeutic complexes to the liver and to assess the efficacy of therapeutic molecules or therapeutic complexes acting via human-ASGR1-mediated mechanisms.
