Abstract:

A semiconductor device of unipolar type has Schottky-contacts () laterally separated by regions in the form of additional layers (″) of semiconductor material on top of a drift layer (). Said additional layers being doped according to a conductivity type being opposite to the one of the drift layer. At least one (″) of the additional layers has a substantially larger lateral extension and thereby larger area of the interface to the drift layer than adjacent such layers () for facilitating the building-up of a sufficient voltage between that layer and the drift layer for injecting minority charge carriers into the drift layer upon surge for surge protection.

Abstract:

A roof covering () comprising a plastic film () and an adhesive () positioned under the lower film surface (). The film () can be a plastic film selected to provide substantial solar reflectance and high thermal emittance and the adhesive () can be a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The roof covering () of the present invention can be provided in a roll, sheets, or other medium, and it can be applied to an EPDM membrane after the membrane is assembled to the roof. The roof covering () can instead be incorporated into a laminate including an EPDM membrane and assembled to the roof at the same time as the membrane.

The SWNT mixtures may comprise no more than 5% non-SWNT carbon, and the iron nanoparticles may be from 2-5 nm. The method of synthesizing the SWNTs may comprise a high-pressure carbon monoxide (HiPCO) process. The SWNT mixtures may be adapted for use as additives in energetic processes, such as, for example, rocket motors.

Abstract:

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for ranking content items. In one aspect, a method includes identifying, for a content item, a bid value specifying an amount a content item provider is willing to pay for user interaction with the content item. A predicted performance measure is identified for the content item. The predicted performance measure is adjusted based on a weighting factor for the content item. The weighting factor for the content item is indicative of confidence that the predicted performance measure will match an actual performance measure for the content item and can be different than a weighting factor for another content item identified for inclusion in a ranking with the content item. A rank score is determined for the content item using the bid value and adjusted predicted performance measure. The content item is provided based on the rank score.
