Abstract:
A method and system are provided for developing geospatial information concerning a particular area using a plurality of uncoordinated probe vehicles moving in the area. The probe vehicles are equipped with a position determining system and gather probe vehicle specific geospatial information as the vehicles move in the area. This probe vehicle specific information is combined over time into a data set. A central processor analyzes the data set to determine geospatial information having a higher quality than that gathered by the individual probe vehicles for the particular area.
Method For Hierarchical Specification Of Scheduling In System-Level Simulations
A method for hierarchical specification and modeling of scheduling in system-level simulations. The invention addresses the specification aspect by introducing an explicit notion of a scheduler that must be designed as part of the system. A scheduler effectively represents a scheduling policy for an architectural resource. A scheduling policy governs how behaviors assigned to a resource, gain access and share the resource. The invention includes a general framework for modeling a scheduling policy, which includes a simple mechanism that covers many common cases. This framework is part of a Virtual Component Codesign (VCC) process, which is targeted at consumer embedded system design. Two orthogonal models, one of a scheduler and one of a schedulable, comprise the overall modeling of scheduling in the invention. The two models interact by sending messages to each other via a simple protocol. The protocol itself is implemented by a pair of abstract interfaces, which in turn are implemented in concrete schedulable and scheduler objects in the simulator.

Abstract:
A method and system for evaluating performance level models of electronic systems having both hardware and software components is provided. The system and method allow for the simplified implementation and testing of several different architectural designs for compliance with the desired operational requirement of a designed electronic system.
A method for logging Voice Over IP (VOIP) calls from a caller client device to a recipient client device. The method includes the steps of generating a VOIP call from the caller client device directed to the recipient client device; storing identification information associated with the caller client device in server call log resident on a hyper text transfer protocol (HTTP) server associated with the recipient client device; generating an update request at the recipient client device requesting updated call log information associated with the server call log from the HTTP server; transmitting the updated call log information from the HTTP server to the recipient client device; and updating a client call log resident on the recipient client device in response to the updated call log information.

Abstract:
In a push-to-talk communications network, a method of transmitting a message from a sending device to a set of receiving devices is disclosed. The method includes selecting the set of receiving devices from a contact list on the sending device, such that each of the receiving devices has an address on the contact list. The method also includes transmitting the message to a message server, wherein the sending device is coupled to the message server; storing the message within the message server; and assigning the message an identifier. The method further includes notifying the set of receiving devices that the message can be retrieved, wherein each of the set of receiving devices is coupled to the message server. Advantages of the invention include a standards-based solution that combines the flexibility of mobile messaging with the ease-of-use of voice.

Abstract:
A method of caching data in a global cache distributed amongst a plurality of computing devices, comprising providing a global cache for caching data accessible to interconnected client devices, where each client contributes a portion of its main memory to the global cache. Each client also maintains an ordering of data that it has in its cache portion. When a remote reference for a cached datum is made, both the supplying client and the requesting client adjust their orderings to reflect the fact that the number of copies of the requested datum now likely exist in the global cache.

Abstract:
Embodiments include methods, apparatus, and systems for managing jobs in a shared file system. One embodiment includes a method that intercepts file accesses within a job on a client to a storage device in a shared file system, detects when a file associated with the job changes, and sends the client a message of the change.

Abstract:
In a method for manipulating environmental conditions in an infrastructure containing one or more adaptive vent tiles, correlations between opening levels of the one or more adaptive vent tiles and an environmental condition at one or more heat dissipating devices are identified. In addition, one or more environmental conditions at locations proximate to or within the one or more heat dissipating devices are received and errors between the received one or more environmental conditions and one or more reference environmental conditions are identified. Moreover, opening levels for the one or more adaptive vent tiles are determined based upon the identified correlations and errors.
