Before becoming a nurse in 2006, I have accumulated 30 years of knowledge in the following: Microsoft, Excel, words, and various software programs associated with claims processing, medical billing, processing mortgages, premiums, and collections. I have completed 2 medical terminology classes as well as extensive training in CPT and ICD9 coding, and have completed several customer service training programs while employed at EDS Federal, Horace Mann Ins. Co., Springfield Service Corp., Springfield Clinic, Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL., Teamsters Trust and Conference Fund, Wells Fargo, and AIG (American International Groups) in the workman comp division. I am very familiar with insurance benefits including Medicare and Medicaid. I have training in negotiations for reduction in payments for non-PPO providers, claims adjustments, pre-existing conditions, coordination of benefits, COBRA, prior authorizations, medical review/audit of claims, subrogation, and have been a liaison with union representatives regarding health and life benefits. I have also processed W2 tax forms for the State of Illinois with 10,000 key strokes per hour with 95% accuracy. My office skills include mail room machines, copy machines, fax, teletype, various phone systems, usage of 10 key for check and balance, manual and computerized bookkeeping, report printing, investigative and problem solving skills. I have been a department team leader at 2 different companies with a staff of 5 co-workers and have also been Supervisor over 2 nursing units with as many as 9 staff. I am able to proficiently delegate work, properly prioritize, and am able to provide excellent customer service.
