Abstract:

A new method for forming stable polyaniline nanofiber colloids uses electrostatic repulsion to maintain dispersion of the nanofibers and prevent aggregation during synthesis of the nanofibers. The colloidal suspensions are formed directly from the reactants in solution maintained at a pH of about 1. 0 to about 4. 0 and a temperature of about 10 C. to about 100 C. with minimal or no stirring. Also set forth are new methods for forming ultrathin films of polyaniline nanofibers via self-assembly.

Abstract:

This invention provides a class of dual mode imaging tracer capable of acting both as a fluorescent imaging tracer and a positron emission tomography imaging tracer. Tracers in accordance with this invention generally have a fluorescent core with a boron-fluoride element embedded therein. Exemplary embodiments of the tracer include F-labeled BODIPY compounds and derivative thereof. Also provided are tracer kits containing a sterile formulation of a BODIPY dye either in a radio-labeled or pre-labeled state, and methods for imaging heart perfusion using the F-labeled dual mode tracers.
