Abstract:

A device for stamping a detergent bar, i. e. a bar comprising soap, a synthetic detergent active or a mixture thereof, includes a die. The die has at least one bar stamping surface provided with at least one elastomeric coating and includes an edge for delaying tearing of the elastomeric coating. Good release of the detergent bars from the die is possible without chilling of the dies. Use of the edge increases the useful life of the coating.

Abstract:

A lawnmower consisting essentially of a rotary cutting apparatus comprising a plurality of small blades and a grass guide for bending and constraining the grass for ease of cutting. The grass guide is mounted substantially parallel to the drive shafts which extend beyond the rear-most end of the grass guide and to which cutting blades are affixed. As the mower is propelled forward, the grass guide bends the grass forward and constrains movement of the grass such that only a section of the outer radii of the blades contact the grass, optimizing cutting efficiency. The blades may be individually driven by one or more small electric motors powered by a rechargeable battery or batteries or other sources. The grass guide is situated at an angle adjustably tilted between 1 and 90 degrees in the longitudinal direction from vertical in order to limit the cutting area of the blades and power requirements.

A plough for closing carton flaps, particularly major carton flaps and a process for making the plough. The plough is designed to cause the flaps to close at or near constant velocity so as to minimize disruptions on the manufacturing line. Abstract:

The present invention relates to a die used in bar stamping. Specifically, it relates to the orientation of cavities found on the die whereby, by angling the x-axis across the cavities at 10. degree. to 90. degree. from the horizontal axis of the press on which they are mounted, it is possible to add more cavities over a fixed length and/or to reduce spacing between cavities and thereby reduce rework. Surprisingly, the cavities are all filled using the same billet volume and, because the same volume fills more cavities, there is less rework and higher ultimate throughput.

Abstract:

A process for affixing reclosable pouring fitments having pouring apertures to erected cartons. In a first embodiment, adhesive is initially applied to the rear of the fitment in two parallel strips on opposite edges of the fitment. Then, the fitment is rotated 90 degrees and two more parallel strips are applied to the other two edges of the fitment. The orientation of the second set of strips is generally perpendicular to that of the first set and is such that the strips form a rectangle which surrounds the pouring aperture of the fitment. The fitment is then applied to the carton over the dispensing aperture of the carton. The generally rectangular pattern of adhesive surrounding the carton's dispensing aperture effects a continuous seal between the fitment and the carton and minimizes leakage of the product out of the carton when fitment is closed.
