Abstract:

A wavelength conversion system and method. The inventive system is adapted to receive a beam of input energy having a first spiked portion with a first wavelength and a first spatial and/or temporal intensity profile and a second tail portion with the first wavelength and a second spatial and/or temporal intensity profile. The inventive system includes an electro-optic switch ( ) and first polarizer ( ) for directing the first portion of the input beam along a first processing path ( ) and a second portion thereof along a second processing path ( ). A first SHG/OPO arrangement ( ) is disposed in the first path ( ) for shifting the wavelength of the first portion of the input energy from the first wavelength to a second wavelength. The first arrangement is optimized for the first spatial and/or temporal intensity profile of the first portion of the energy. A second SHG/OPO arrangement ( ) is disposed in the second path for shifting the wavelength of the second portion of the input energy from the first wavelength to the second wavelength.

Abstract:

A data storage system in which each of a set of disks has a first portion for either popular data or error correction information (parity or Reed-Solomon code symbols) associated with the popular data, and a second portion used for other data. A disk controller connected to the set of disks maintains a first popular data block in the first portion of a first of the set of disks and a second popular data block in the first portion of a second of the set of disks. The system maintains at least two of the disks in an active state. The active disks are selected to insure that any data in the popular data blocks can be determined from data stored in the active disks. An additional disk is maintained in an active state if write access is permitted or if there is an additional popular data block.

Abstract:

A wireless key is signal, having a key-specific identifier, is received, the key-specific identifier detected, and the signal transmission location is calculated. The signal transmission location is stored based on the detected key-specific identifier. Another instance of the same wireless key signal is received, its key-specific identifier is detected, and the stored signal transmission location is retrieved based on the detected key-specific identifier. Optionally, a wireless key signal is received at a user and repeated at a plurality of locations in a parking facility. A vehicle response is detected, and associated with one of the repeatings of the wireless key signal. A location of the vehicle response is detected based on the repeating with which it is associated.

A COgas flow laser with multiple discharge modules places acoustic baffles between the discharge modules to suppress shock waves and ions passing between the discharge modules such as may disrupt the optical path of the laser. Abstract:

A system and method is described for using a component business model to partition a business into non-overlapping components, and then allocating different components to appropriate organizing strategies, based on attribute values assigned to each component. In the best mode of implementation there are two attributes: whether or not the component differentiates the business within the market place; and whether the component is industry standard or is tailored by the organization. These attributes and their values map the components of the business to a matrix. Based on the combination of attribute values in each cell of the matrix, available organizing strategies are also mapped to the matrix, thereby identifying for each component an appropriate organizing strategy.

Abstract:

An array of discrete catalyst elements is contained in a heated module external to the main laser vessel with an auxiliary gas flow loop connecting them so as to provide independent control of catalyst temperature and gas flow rate to achieve high CO+1/2Oto COrecombination under high pulse repetition frequency operation for a sealed laser. Catalyst elements in the form of cylinders with holes through their centers are mounted on multiple parallel rods or catalysts in the form of small spherical or cylindrical elements are contained in multiple packets arranged in the module so as to minimize flow impedance and maximize laser gas recycling throughput. The cylindrical catalyst module is constructed so as to allow for rapid heating to operating temperature while withstanding atmospheric differential pressures during laser processing.
