Abstract:

An improved drive circuit is provided for a DC motor. The drive circuit includes: a DC power source; a relay having a normally open contact and a normally closed contact; a DC motor electrically connected through the normally open contact of the relay to the power source; and a discharge circuit connected in parallel to the DC motor. More specifically, the discharge circuit is coupled to the normally closed contact of the relay and operable to inhibit current flow from the DC motor until the relay has settled in a closed position.

Abstract:

A printhead includes a nozzle plate and a nozzle bore located in the nozzle plate. In one embodiment, the nozzle bore includes a first section, a second section, and a third section when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the nozzle plate. The first section and the second section are spaced apart from each other by the third section. The first section includes a converging area portion and the second section includes a diverging area portion. In another embodiment, the first section and the second section of the nozzle bore are adjacent to each other. The first section includes a converging area portion and the second section includes a diverging area portion. The diverging area portion and the converging area portion are asymmetrical relative to each other when viewed along the plane perpendicular to the nozzle plate.

Abstract:

A digital printing system for printing on a continuous web of print media includes a first module and a second module that guide a continuous web of print media under tension through the printing system. At least one of the first module and the second module include a digital printhead for placing marks on the print media as it travels through the module. The first module includes a first support structure. A first mechanism is affixed to the first support structure and includes structure that positions the print media in a cross track direction. A second mechanism is affixed to the first support structure and includes structure that sets a tension of the print media. The second module includes a second support structure and is positioned downstream from the first module. A mechanism that kinematically connects the continuous web of print media traveling through the first module to the continuous web of print media traveling through the second module is affixed to the support structure of the at least one of the first module and the second module. A third mechanism includes structure that sets an angular trajectory of the print media and is affixed to the support structure of the at least one of the first module and the second module.
