It's been said about me that: Realtors rarely train in college for their careers; but few could be better prepared to deliver results under pressure than Deb Christensen of INTERO REAL ESTATE SERVICES in Evergreen...who delivered around 1,300 babies before switching jobs. Born and raised in the Evergreen area where she practices for Intero Real Estate Services, Deb went to Denmark as an exchange student, met her Danish husband, and trained as a midwife -- in Denmark, a state-sponsored profession that's a formal part of the small country's healthcare system. When Deb graduated with honors from the Danish School of Midwifery, she became the first foreigner ever accredited by the institution. The profession, she notes, is a far cry from its practice in the U.S., where deliveries other than by obstetricians are rare exceptions to the rule. At various points in her career, she had as many as 40 professionals working for her and finished as director of her own hospital-based clinic -- all in pursuit of "catching" (the literal Danish translation) newborns. Deb speaks Danish, of course...along with Swedish and Norwegian. With her husband Niels Erik, a teacher, she returned to the U.S. in 2001, where rather than taking on the enormous task of establishing her credentials, she made the move into real estate. "I feel my sense of intuition and innovative thinking are assets to my Real Estate clients," Deb says. "To do what I did, you need to be a problem solver, with the confidence that there is always a solution." Deb has two grown sons and during her non-real-estate hours plays piano and is involved in accompanying at the local theater in Conifer.
