Abstract:

An overcap for use with aerosol dispensing containers including a top member having a skirt extending from the peripheral edge thereof, a resilient and flexible central portion, a plurality of arms extending downwardly from the central portion carrying inwardly turned lips at the ends thereof and web means connecting the arms to the peripheral portion of the overcap. When mounted on the aerosol dispensing container the inwardly turned lips engage a protruding rim of the cup member portion of the container, and upon depressing the central portion of the top member, the arms are pivotally moved outwardly to release the container and permit removal of the overcap therefrom.

Abstract:

An internal combustion engine comprising a translation case or gear case, a combustion chamber and a rotary valve. The rotary valve is adjacent to and on one side of the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber contains a rectangular piston plate. The piston plate is hinged at one end to a shaft and adapted for oscillatory movement in the combustion chamber. The walls of the combustion chamber are formed by the inner wall of a first circular disc, the inner wall of a second circular disc, the inner wall surfaces of the engine block and the surface of the piston plate. The rectangular piston plate is integral with or fixedly connected to the shaft, which shaft is fixedly connected to a first linking means. The piston plate, shaft and first linking means are movably connected to a second linking means, a throw and a drive gear. The fixed relationship between the piston plate, shaft and first linking means and their movable relationship to the second linking means, throw and drive gear are such that during the combustion-power cycle, when a compressed fuel-air mixture is burned in the combustion chamber the pistion plate is made to oscillate.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to an aerosol spray apparatus comprising two parts which when joined or brought into a sealing engagement cooperate to form a mechanical break up means. The mechanical break up consists of a sprayhead and stem which cooperate to form a swirl forming means which mechanically breaks up pressurized materials being dispensed. The swirl forming means comprises a swirl chamber which is arranged concentrically to a spray orifice, two tangential channels which are directed tangentially into the swirl chamber and two annular channels. The swirl forming chamber and tangential channels are formed by depressions molded into the inner wall surface of the socket of the sprayhead. The two annular channels are formed by depressions molded into the surface of the valve stem. The swirl chamber and tangential channels are covered by a tightly fitted outer wall surface portion of the stem.

Abstract:

An aerosol spray valve of the type which utilizes a reciprocable plunger moving within a valve housing that is in turn mounted to a cover member. The cover member is adapted to be crimped to a canister and has a dip tube extending from the interior of the valve housing to the bottom of the canister. Pressurized product is forced from the interior of the canister through the dip tube into the valve housing and out of the cover member through a central hole into a sprayhead that is mounted in the hole. An annular elastomeric gasket surrounds the hole and the upper end of the reciprocable plunger forms a valve seat that is spring-biased against the underside of the gasket to prevent pressurized product from emerging. The sprayhead has an associated stem that enters a socket formed in the plunger, the stem being slidably and sealingly engaged through the hole and the passageway in the elastomeric gasket. The stem is imperforate.
