Abstract:

A reversible reciprocating piston compressor includes a crankcase defining at least one cylinder therein and a crankshaft rotatably supported by the crankcase. The crankshaft includes a drive portion and a crankpin eccentrically positioned relative to an axis of rotation of the crankshaft. A piston is reciprocable within the cylinder and a connecting rod assembly is provided between the crankpin and the piston to reciprocally drive the piston in response to forward or reverse rotation of the crankshaft. A cam assembly is operably connected to the crankpin and is engageable with the drive member to effectuate a first stroke length in a first direction of rotation of the crankshaft and a second stroke in a second direction of rotation of the crankshaft. The cam assembly includes a cam, a driven portion and a counterweight. The cam is interposed between the connecting rod assembly and the crankpin and the driven portion is attached to the cam and is in a contacting relationship with the drive portion through at least one contact interface.

Abstract:

A compressor assembly for compressing a vapor, including a compression mechanism having at least one piston reciprocatingly mounted therein and a motor operably coupled to the compression mechanism. A drive shaft is rotatively mounted in the motor. A rocker mechanism for converting rotational motion of the drive shaft into reciprocating motion of the piston is provided that includes a mounting plate, having an inclined surface, integrally formed with one end of the drive shaft. The rocker mechanism also includes means for linking the mounting plate and the piston so that when the drive shaft rotates, the piston reciprocates within the compression mechanism. The means for linking the mounting plate and the piston is operatively coupled to the mounting plate and is mounted directly to the piston. The means for linking the mounting plate and the piston may include a bearing, a flat plate, or a second plate having an inclined surface.

Abstract:

A shock absorber for a vehicle includes a pressure tube that defines a fluid chamber. A piston disposed within the fluid chamber divides the fluid chamber into an upper working chamber and a lower working chamber. The piston defines a compression passage and a rebound passage which extend through the piston between the upper working chamber and the lower working chamber. A valve disc assembly engages the piston and controls the flow of fluid between the upper working chamber and the lower working chamber. The valve disc assembly includes a bleed disc that defines an orifice with a substantially non-linear contour. The orifice extends to an outer diameter of the bleed disc, and forms a bleed channel between the upper working chamber and the lower working chamber.
