Abstract:

A watertight antenna assembly adapted for mounting on a mounting surface includes a sealing gasket having a body portion and a peripheral edge, and a continuous sidewall formed with the peripheral edge. A radome is releasably mounted to the sealing gasket forming a cavity therebetween. The sealing gasket includes a sealing projection that extends continuously along an inside portion of the sidewall and is configured to abut the radome to form a seal. A downwardly depending lip is formed of deformable material and extending continuously along a bottom portion of the sidewall. When the sealing gasket is compressed against the mounting surface, the lip sealingly deforms against the mounting surface forming a watertight seal therebetween so as to prevent ingress of water into the cavity.

Abstract:

A portable detector for use with an imaging system is disclosed. The portable detector automatically sets one or more operational states based on at least a determination as to whether the portable detector is connected to external power. An imaging system is also disclosed that ascertains whether the portable detector is connected via a tether. The imaging system may perform a compatibility check when connected to the portable detector to assess compatibility between the imaging system and the portable detector.

Abstract:

An improved cigarette lighter adapter for an electronic device has an exterior flexible covering that provides a textured surface for gripping by the user to facilitate the insertion and removal of the adapter from a cigarette lighter socket. The adapted also includes a pair of ground contacts in the form of spring members that abut ground contact pads on an internal circuit board. The ground contacts are biased in place within the adapter against the circuit board contact pads in a solderless manner. The ground contacts are positioned in alignment with each other on opposite sides of the circuit board so that contact forces they exert on the circuit board balance so as not to apply any detrimental stress to the circuit board.

Abstract:

A multiple use, multi-band antenna for mobile wireless communication and global positioning has includes a elongated cellular radiating element and a GPS radiating element supported atop the cellular radiating element. The cellular radiating element has a continuous body portion of varying diameter that forms a flared upper portion which supports a global positioning system amplifier mounted thereon. The GPS amplifier unit takes the form of a GPS patch radiator disposed atop a low noise amplifier. The cellular and GPS radiating elements are fed by respective first and second feedlines. The stacking of the GPS amplifier unit on the cellular radiating element provides a top loading effect for the cellular radiating element that enables it to resonate across all pertinent cellular frequencies.

Abstract:

A self-adjusting antenna mounting assembly includes a protective base cap member which engages a vehicle antenna base and a contact extension cartridge. The contact cartridge includes a spring-biased hollow contact sleeve which biases the contact sleeve within a cavity so that it adjusts for varying lengths of contact pins which it engages. The contact sleeve has multiple arc-like segments which permit it to engage a contact pin of the antenna base, while not transferring any forces to it during installation.

Abstract:

An adapter assembly is provided for adapting a portable cellular telephone to receive an external replacement antenna or an external direct feed connection by replacing the internal antenna connection of the cellular telephone. The adapter assembly includes a body portion with an antenna-receiving bore, a telephone chassis contact portion at the other end a circuit board interposed between the body and contact portion which spaces them apart and interconnects them together. The circuit board has circuitry thereon which transposes the connections effected thereby between coaxial conductors of the assembly body and contact portions.
