Dr. Martin was given a Certificate of Appreciation by Tom Allen on behalf of the Greater Portland Council of Governments in 1993, elected an Outstanding Young Mainer by the Windham Jaycees in 1993, given a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Windham Rotary Club in 1994, as well as an award from the Rotary Club of Lviv, Ukraine for medical relief efforts in that country. In 1998 he received the Rotary Foundation District Service Award for his humanitarian work in Romania. He received an award for his "Service to the Town and Children of Windham" in 1995 from the town of Windham. In 1994 he was made a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2006 he was given the Real Heros Award from the American Red Cross for outstanding medical outreach in the Dominican Republic.
