An orthopaedic brace assembly includes a thigh cuff component, a calf cuff component and a pair of hinge assemblies. The thigh cuff component engages the wearers leg above the knee and includes a suspension assembly having a pair of cantilevered arms. The calf cuff component engages the wearers leg below the knee. The pair of hinge assemblies couples the thigh cuff component and the calf cuff component for relative articulation. The hinge assemblies include first and second arms interconnected for relative movement to one another through a range of articulation by first and second links. The hinge assemblies additionally include a series of stops which selectively snap fit to the first arm for limiting the range of articulation.

Abstract:
A gutter splint aids the healing of injuries to the metacarpals, proximal phalanges, and middle phalanges by substantially immobilizing the injured digits. The splint includes a volar member and a dorsal member. The volar member has a volar forearm support region for supporting a volar forearm, a volar palm support region for supporting a palm of the hand at a predetermined angle to the forearm, and a finger support region for supporting the fingers at a predetermined angle to the palm. The dorsal member has a dorsal forearm support region for supporting the dorsal forearm, a dorsal hand support region for supporting the hand at a predetermined angle to the dorsal forearm, and a finger support region for supporting the fingers at a predetermined angle to the dorsal hand. The volar member and dorsal member are flexibly secured to each other using a series of removable straps.
Method For Creating A Mold For A Knee Brace And A Knee Brace
Disclosed is a method for producing a three-dimensional composite structure and a method for producing the mold for the three-dimensional composite structure. The mold is formed of at least one rigid die member and a second thermoplastic die member. The second thermoplastic die member is formed by coupling a rubber flexible pattern to a surface of the first die member. Vacuum or pressure is applied to a heated thermoplastic sheet to cause the heated thermoplastic sheet to deform about the flexible pattern, thereby forming the second die. Strips of reinforced polymer thermoset pre-preg material are then positioned within the cavities formed by the flexible pattern and are allowed to cure. Optionally, heat, pressure, and vacuum may be applied to the mold construction to facilitate the curing of the thermoset materials.

Abstract:
Financial news distribution apparatus comprising: a first terminal () comprising means () for displaying a selected one of a plurality of data entry screens () associated with news items of different types, each said data entry screen comprising: a plurality of data entry fields () for entry of respective data items of a new said news item, and respective data item label text fields () each containing text describing the corresponding data entry field in a source language, selection means () for selecting at least one of a plurality of target languages; translation means () for translating the source language text of said data item label text fields () into corresponding text in said at least one target language; means () for inputting data specifying a type of news item and a subject of a new news item; a computer () remote to said first terminal (), said computer () being arranged to read a store () containing a database of previous news items, accessible by type and subject, and to locate a preceding news item of the same type and on the same subject, and to transmit the stored data items thereof to the first terminal (); said display means () displaying each of said stored data items on said data entry screen together with the corresponding newly entered data item; and means () for transmitting said data items and associated text in said at least one target language to at least one remote second terminal ().
A hook assembly for securing a component of an orthopaedic brace to a patient with a strap. The hook assembly includes a base for attachment to the component; and a hook member coupled to the base and including a portion normally spring-biased away from the base for accepting the strap, such that when the strap is tightened on the patient, the hook member is drawn against the base.

Abstract:
A brace to be worn over the wrist for preventing and reducing pain and discomfort associated with the ulnar styloid of the wrist. The brace includes a band circumferentially fitted around the wrist. The band has an opening positioned to circumferentially surround the ulnar styloid. A pressure ring is attached to the opening, so that when the band is fittingly secured around the wrist with the ulnar styloid protruding through the opening, the pressure ring exerts controlled pressure to tissues associated with the ulnar styloid.

Abstract:
Orthopedic support devices are provided that include a main body having at least one border area and causing targeted compression to a body part over which an orthopedic support device is worn and that further include at least one transition cuff located at a border area of the main body, wherein the main body is made of a material that has a predetermined elastic modulus and wherein the at least one transition cuff is made of a material that has a lower predetermined elastic modulus than the material from which the main body is made such that the presence of the at least one transition cuff is effective to reduce displacement of soft tissue at the border area that is caused by the targeted compression of the main body.
