Abstract:
A method for adaptive driver workload estimation. A subjective assessment of a driver workload is received from a vehicle driver. A stream of sensor input data is collected from one or more sensors in response to receiving the subjective assessment. A machine learning algorithm is applied to a driver workload estimate model based on the stream of sensor input data and the subjective assessment. The result of the applying is an updated driver workload estimate model.
Method And Apparatus To Provide Vehicle Information To A Requestor
An on-board information system is provided, including a help facility, which is operable to provide information to a requester. The information comprises audio or audio-visual descriptions for operating various systems and control devices, using on-board or off-board devices. An information system is provided, comprising a requestor-initiated information inquiry device, an information storage system, and, an information communications center. The information storage system communicates information to the communications center based upon a request for information initiated by the requester to the information inquiry device. The request for information can be canceled during delivery. The system is applicable to vehicles and other systems wherein operators may have limited knowledge of functioning of all aspects of the system.

Abstract:
A flat, flexible electrochemical cell is provided. The within invention describes various aspects of the flat, flexible electrochemical cell. A printed anode is provided that obviates the need for a discrete anode current collector, thereby reducing the size of the battery. An advantageous electrolyte is provided that enables the use of a metallic cathode current collector, thereby improving the performance of the battery. Printable gelled electrolytes and separators are provided, enabling the construction of both co-facial and co-planar batteries. Cell contacts are provided that reduce the potential for electrolyte creepage in the flat, flexible electrochemical cells of the within invention.
Driver Workload-Based Vehicle Stability Enhancement Control
A vehicle stability enhancement system that is adapted for an estimated driver workload. The system includes a driver workload estimation processor that estimates the driver workload based on certain factors, such as the vehicle speed or driver-behavior factors. The driver workload estimation is used to adjust the damping ratio and natural frequency in dynamic filters in a command interpreter to adjust a desired yaw rate signal and a desired side-slip signal. The driver workload estimation is also used to generate a yaw rate multiplication factor and a side-slip multiplication factor that modify a yaw rate stability signal and a side-slip stability signal in a feedback control processor that generates a stability control signal.

Abstract:
A media portal for a vehicle includes a structure within a vehicle passenger compartment that defines a cavity. The cavity is selectively variable in size in order to retain a portable electronic device. A sensor is configured to detect the presence of the portable electronic device in the cavity. An inductive charger is positioned to generate a changing magnetic field in the cavity to inductively charge a battery of the portable electronic device. At least one user interface device is included through which data can be received from or transmitted to the portable electronic device.

Abstract:
A system and method is provided that facilitates the generation of a safety-optimized route between a starting location and a destination location. A vehicle navigation system configured in accordance with the invention accesses safety data indicative of the relative safety of potential route sections, processes the safety data for a potential route, and generates a proposed navigation plan that favors relatively safe route sections over relatively unsafe route sections.
Use Of Flagellin To Prevent And Treat Gram Negative Bacterial Infection
The disclosure describes use of flagellin polypeptides to induce tolerance to gram negative bacteria, such as , in order to alleviate the effects of the inflammatory response to bacterial infection in a patient. Also described are methods and compositions for treating and preventing keratitis, cystic fibrosis, asthma, and other diseases and conditions in which inflammation contributes to the pathology and symptoms.
