Abstract:

Liquid filter constructions include a baffle plate secured to a can, by way of laser welding. A filter element is operably oriented within the interior of the can. The filter element includes a first end cap and a media pack secured to the first end cap. In some embodiments, the first end cap radially abuts an outer, annular surface of a tubular member of the baffle plate to form a radially directed seal between the first end cap and the tubular member. Liquid filter constructions of this type have a burst strength between 500-800 psi (about 3. 4-5. 5 MPa), along a longitudinal section of the can wall. Constructions of this type eliminate a roll or lock seam, an inner gasket, an inner compressive spring, and a gasket retainer. Systems for using liquid filters are described herein. Methods of constructing and using these types of filter arrangements are also described.

A reverse flow air filter arrangement is provided. The arrangement includes a filter element having first and second end caps, the second end cap having a central drainage aperture. A funnel shape on an interior surface of second end cap is used to direct moisture flow to the drainage aperture. The arrangement includes a housing in which the filter element is positioned, operatively, during use. Certain features in the housing facilitate moisture withdrawal from the filter element while also inhibiting interference with sealing between the a filter element and the housing.

Abstract:

A filter assembly including a replaceable filter cartridge for use with a reusable filter canister. The filter cartridge includes a cylindrical filter media having top and bottom ends respectively mounted within top and bottom end caps. The bottom end cap includes a sidewall that surrounds at least a lower portion of the filter media. A contaminant containment chamber is defined between the sidewall and an outer side of the filter media. When the cartridge is mounted within the canister, the radial sealing element engages an inner surface of the canister to provide a circumferential seal. The sidewall also includes a living hinge positioned below the sealing element.
