A motor having a first portion configured to turn in a forward direction, a second portion coaxially mirrors the first portion; and a central fan between the first and second portions, and forcing air through the portions. A thermoelectric cooler element, thermally coupled to the portion is configured to cool the motor. A motor controller is electrically coupled to the first and second portions, and operates a portion in response to a condition sensed by the motor controller. The condition sensed by the motor controller is a motor torque, a motor speed, a motor casing temperature, or a zoned motor casing temperature. A method includes detecting a motor operational command; selecting a motor operational state using motor portion responsive to the motor command; sensing a heating state of a motor portion; and providing a cooling state to the motor portion responsive to the heating state.

Abstract:
A paper shredder with a thermo-regulated motor, a universal motor, and a method for cooling a motor. Paper shredder includes a shredder mechanical assembly and a thermo-regulated motor with motor stator core housing, coupled to the shredder mechanical assembly. Thermo-regulated motor includes conductive stay secured to housing. Conductive band and conductive stay act to dissipate motor heat. Thermoelectric cooler is coupled to the conductive band; and insulative stay is secured to the housing with a conductive band. Thermoelectric cooler continues to cool the housing after the motor is deenergized. A universal motor having conductive stays and insulative stays physically coupled to the housing; and one conductive band securing the insulative stays and conductive stays to the housing. The universal motor can include thermoelectric coolers. Also, a method for cooling a motor, which includes providing a conductive band and providing a conductive stay interposed between the conductive band and the housing.

Abstract:
A workpiece gaging system includes carriage structure for a gaging part, movable longitudinally and laterally, and a rotor to rotate that structure; also indicator means is operatively connected with the part to indicate the status of engagement, displacement, or need for displacement, of the gaging part relative to a surface or surfaces (such as pipe threads) to be gaged, as at multiple locations. Measurement encoding and signal processing means are also provided.

Abstract:
A method for making replica contour block masters for use in producing Schmidt correctors wherein a finished Schmidt corrector plate to be duplicated, which is flat on one side and figured on the other, is placed with its flat side on a flat surfaced spindle master, a thin piece of glass to constitute a replica piece is placed on the corrector plate and a vacuum drawn therebetween to conform their surfaces, the replica piece is ground and polished flat on the free surface, the corrector plate and replica piece removed from the spindle master and the replica piece placed flat side to flat surface on the spindle master in a semipermanent bond therewith and constituting together a contour block master.
