Abstract:

A document classifier may analyze documents for a search engine and tag the documents. A document classifier system may have several different classifiers, each with a separate algorithm for classification. Some of the data classifiers may learn or change the classification over time with a feedback loop. As those classifiers are modified, updated, replaced, or added, the documents that have already been classified by the classifier may be re-examined to update their classification. The document classifier system may maintain a database of documents with a timestamp that the document was classified that may be used to identify those documents whose classifications may be out of date.

A set of segment managers may receive new, updated, or deleted documents and update a set of term matrices from which a published search matrix may be generated. The database may have a very large term dictionary and may use a hash function to create term identifiers without having to look up terms in the dictionary. The database may be maintained by many systems operating in parallel for high scalability.

Abstract:

Two players take turns propelling a puck, by flicking it with a fingertip, over the surface of a playing board towards the other player's goal. The playing board is boarded by an outer wall which provides carom surfaces at the perimeter of the playing board and a pair of goals in the nature of openings in such outer wall. A plurality of short inner wall sections are arranged on the playing surface to provide both additional carom surfaces and a labyrinth path for the puck. In one embodiment the inner wall sections are movably mounted onto the playing board. A two-position goal attachment, engageable with the outer wall, is provided for each goal. In one position the attachment forms a closure for the goal. In the other position it forms a collector for the puck after it passes through the goal.

Abstract:

A lowering device including a unit which is adapted to slide downwardly at a controlled rate along a rope or other flexible line and which contains a circuitous passage through which the line extends to introduce friction between the line and the unit. In the preferred arrangement, two clamping devices controlled by rotatable collet sleeves are provided at opposite ends of the passage for controllably varying the rate of descent of the unit along the line, and the circuitous passage is formed by a tube contained within a case and surrounded by a mass of resinous plastic material hardened in place. The tube and contained circuitous passage may first be coiled in one direction, and then be coiled in the opposite direction, in a relation preventing twisting of the line as the device moves downwardly therealong.
